Letter of Motivation

As a woman who grew up in a 3rd world country filled with poverty, unemployment,
corruption, and few growth opportunities, I always saw myself as the one who would
change that about Mozambique.
We are not developing with the rest of the world in aspects related to technology and
engineering improvements. We expect other countries to produce and then purchase
those machines and products to produce raw products which will then be transformed by
other countries and sold back to Mozambique.
Mozambique is a country filled with brilliant minds and driven young people devoted to
open doors for further development in many areas, and with that change the current
scenario of the country. I am one of those.
I have a bachelors in civil engineering because I love building and I love engineering. But
soon I understood that that is not enough. If I don’t provide value to the world I can’t help
others. Studying outside Mozambique for 4 years opened my vision and created in me
other passions as programming and Business. In my second year of college, I opened
my first business, which eventually failed but taught me a lot about how little I knew about
finances and business development. Therefore, I decided to marry the three, civil
engineering, Programming, and Finances/Business Administration skills to provide value
to the world.
My goal is to open a civil engineering based company focused on modern high tech
housing/residence construction and escalate my business to the whole world.
To attain my goal I need more experienced and smarter people around me. And for that,
I need to open myself to the world, put myself out there, have mentors that will guide me,
and have peers that will inspire me. A scholarship is not just a means to get your college
paid. It is a way to provide self-development, create a rich network, know another culture,
and learn from more experienced and talented people.
I want this scholarship because I believe I can through these goals of mine, open doors
for other Mozambican students to grow.
I want to serve my country and the world to the best of my abilities. I need the knowledge
others acquired to grow. I need to learn from those who know better.
I believe that the European culture is very inspiring and the way the campuses function
allows great creativity amongst the students.
My current achievements serve as proof of my abilities and the drive I have to solve
problems, get knowledge and provide value to the world. And at the sight of that, I believe
that I am one of the people who should get this scholarship.
