7.0 Safety
7.1 Prior to the commencement of any activities, the workforce will receive introductory
training on the project specific, site safety requirements. This education will include both
activity safety issues, as well as general safety requirements. Attendance to evidence this
training will be recorded, and attendees will be required to sign in acknowledgement.
7.2 Where possible hazards may arise from fencing activities, the necessary safety measures
will be taken to prevent accident or injury at all times. This may include barriers, warning tape/
net, signage, watchman, and proper lighting.
7.3 Where work near existing services may be required, the necessary work permits and
safety equipments should be obtained prior to the activity commencement.
7.4 ESHO will enforce that Personal Protective Equipment be worn by site personnel at all
times during construction activities. Supervisory Engineer and Foremen will be responsible for
enforcement of the PPE policy.
7.5 Heat Stress Training will be provided.
7.6 Provisions of adequate cool drinking water, shade, and table salt will be in place.
7.7 Plant & Equipment will be provided back-up alarms, lights, and all other applicable safety
devices.
7.8 All Plant and Equipment operators will be required to hold valid license compliant with local
regulations.
7.9 Striking of any underground services will be avoided by the preliminary undertaking of trial
trenches.
7.10 Accessing the Airside Operational Area will be controlled through the existing AOA gate
No. 7 and by defining the limits of the construction activities and haul routes. Moreover,
physical and identifiable boundary limits will be installed adjacent to facilities to be maintained,
via barriers or fence as required by Operational Managers.

8.0 Prior Activities
8.1 Permits and No Objection Certificates will be in place prior to start of fencing activities.
8.2 The Surveyor will locate and mark all services that are present along the proposed fence
alignment (This includes above ground services as well as buried services). These services
(Electric, Telephone, Gas, Oil, Chemical, Water, etc) will be clearly marked using stakes and
warning tapes. Near these services, only manual excavation is permitted.
8.3 Location of fence to be installed, as well as limits of fence to be removed, will be clearly
marked with stakes, tape, or bright paint. Proposed coordinate locations for fence alignment may
be modified to accommodate protection and maintenance of existing utilities.
8.4 Where necessary, ground along fence will be cleared and reasonably leveled along fence
path prior to commencement of installation.
8.5 All Submittals for Temporary and Interim Security Fencing to be submitted and approved
prior to start of installation activities.
Prior to removal of any existing security fence, temporary or interim security fence will be
installed at location approved by the Engineer, and in accordance with phasing plan; in order to
maintain a secured perimeter at all times. During the initial stage of construction, access for
installation will be from the Landside area, through designated Gate,

9.0 Procedure
9.1 Installation of Temporary and Interim Security Fence
9.1.1 Excavation for straining posts and intermediate posts will be performed by
auger, to the proper depth and width indicated in the approved drawings. Where post locations
are near or adjacent to existing services, excavation will be by hand. Fence posts will be placed,
along with its precast foundation, in the excavation and plumbed during placement. Posts will be
re-checked for proper alignment and plumb during backfill and manual compaction to existing
ground level.
9.1.2 Concrete to be used for pre-casting of the fence post foundations will be
grade 250kg/m3, or as otherwise indicated in the approved drawings.
9.1.3 Fence will be erected to the lines and levels shown on the Drawings, or as
instructed by the Engineer, in accordance with the manufacturer's recommendations, and the
requirements of BS 1722: Part 10.
9.1.4 .sheets and frames will be installed ensuring a smooth line at the top of the
fence parallel to existing ground levels, with no discernible dips, humps or sudden changes in
alignment.
9.1.5 supporting pipes will be tensioned tight by clamps at each straining post.
9.1.6 Straining posts will be provided at all ends and corners of the fence, at
changes of direction and double straining posts will be provided at every gate sides.
9.1.7 fixture bracket will be provided at every connection between straining post
and the steel frame of the corrugated sheet.
9.1.8 Ø48 steel pipes bracing to be installed at every Straining posts.
9.1.9 Earthing of fence will be 250 mm above . in accordance with drawings.
9.1.10 All AOA work will follow requirements included safety and quality planes.

9.2 Removal of Security Fence
9.2.1 Existing concertina tape and barbed wire will be carefully cut, removed,
and stored at site to be transmitted in the future to location determined by MOH.
9.2.2 Line wire, ties, and mesh will be cut at specific locations in order to
disconnect them from posts. After removal, material will be loaded into trucks and hauled off-site
to location determined by MOH.
9.2.3 Posts and concrete bases will be excavated, loaded into trucks, and
hauled off-site. to location determined by MOH.
9.2.4 After removal of posts, holes will be backfilled to surrounding ground

elevation.
9.2.5 After completion of backfill, area will be left clean, tidied, and free of debris.
10.0 Responsibilities
10.1 The CM will coordinate with SCM and ensure that the necessary resources to
implement the approved method statement have been allocated to the task.
10.2 The SCM along with the PE/SE will ensure that the site preparation activities are
conducted according to the approved method statement.
10.3 The ME will ensure that the materials being used are in accordance to the project
specifications and the approved method statement.
10.4 The ESHO along with the PE/SE will ensure implementation of all ES&H procedures
related to the nature of the works being carried out and in accordance with ES&H Plan.
