1 Should public services be controlled by private companies rather than by the government? Discuss
this with reference to your country.

2 Is it more valuable to recognise great works of art than to create them?

3 In your country, is education the most important factor in providing people with opportunities to
move upwards in society?

4 How far do you agree that the citizens of a country should be taught their national history?

5 There is a rising trend for the public to use social media to express anger at injustices. To what
extent does this achieve anything positive?

6 Is it true that the physical location of a food business, such as a restaurant or café, is the key
factor in its success?

7 How far do interactive exhibits and activities enhance the experience of visiting museums?

8 ‘Motorsports waste resources, damage the environment and should be banned.’ Discuss.

9 ‘Fashion is what you adopt when you don’t know who you are.’ How far do you agree with this
statement?

10 Is it desirable, or even possible, for documentaries shown on television to be completely factual?

11 How far are self-driving cars the best solution to traffic congestion?

12 ‘There should be no distinction between “soft” and “hard” drugs as all recreational drug use is
equally harmful.’ Discuss.
