According- to 1991 Census the total population o of the district was 1,786,794, which increased to

2024216, in 2001 Census. There has been net addition of 237,422 persons in population during 1991-
2001. The decadal growth rates of district comes, to 13.3 percent. The decadal growth rates for the rural
and urban areas of the district are 9.5 -per cent and 31.5 per cent respectively.
