EN-FAB Crude Metering Prover System
Meter Provers
Verification and/or checking the accuracy of liquid
meters can be done with a device known as a
liquid displacement meter prover. Meter provers
can be stationary or mobile. They can be
bi-directional, unidirectional, piston type and
small volume type. Meter provers are automated
systems used to provide on-site calibration to
verify flow meter uncertainty and establish the
K-factor of a meter.
Provers are designed in accordance to the space
available and the type of product to be proved,
however, they must all be sized to accommodate
the flow rates of the meters to be proved.
EN-FAB meter provers are in accordance with, and
will meet the standards set forth by the American
Petroleum Institute (API) and the International
Organization for Standardization (ISO)

The petroleum industry and American Petroleum
Institute (API) have accepted the use of volume
displacement provers in two categories. The
conventional pipe prover is a displacement prover
with sufficient reference volume to accumulate
10,000 whole pulses in a single pass; and the
captive displacement or small volume prover (SVP)
is a displacement prover with insufficient refer-
ence volume to accumulate 10,000 pulses in a
single pass and uses pulse interpolation software).
In both cases, it will require multiply passes for a
proving and to establish as new meter factor.

The conventional provers have been utilized for
meter proving since the early 1950’s and the
captive displacement prover entered the market in
the mid 1970’s after the acceptance of the double
chronometry or pulse interpolation (techniques

EN-FAB, Inc. designed and fabricated eleven complete metering and

measurement stations for a crude oil pipeline between Russia and
Kazakhstan for Caspian Pipeline Consortium Project.

Stretching over 1,500 kilometers from the country's giant Tengiz oil field to
the Russian port of Novorossiysk on the Black Sea, The Caspian Pipeline
Consortium (CPC) oil pipeline was commissioned in 2001. As the first
major pipeline to be built from a former Soviet country, the route was the

1500 MMSCFD Metering Station with 42” Header

The 48in-diameter, Los Ramones pipeline starts from the

interconnection point of the Agua Dulce-Frontera pipeline in
Camargo, Tamaulipas, bordering the US. This supplies Texas shale
gas for the Los Ramones pipeline, and culminates at Los Ramones,
Nuevo Leon.

EN-FAB provided the equipment for two compression stations

located at Frontera and Los Ramones. This 48” diameter section of
the pipeline has a designed capacity of delivering 2,100 million
cubic feet a day of gas (mmcfd). The station facilities are expected
to meet 20% of Mexico’s natural gas requirements.

The Los Ramones Pipeline encompassed the building of two

stations the largest of their kind built in Mexico to date. The
Frontera station is located in Tamaulipas state, which borders the
United States.

This integrated project for Gasoductos del Noreste (GDN), supply's

natural gas from Texas (USA) to Guanajuato, a city located in the
center of Mexico. The diameter of the pipeline, at 48” makes it the
country’s largest.

In mid July, 1995 Fluor Daniel Williams Brothers of Houston, Texas

awarded EN-FAB, Inc. a project to engineer and fabricate ancillary
equipment required for a 340 km, 20" pipeline project for
the Mariquita to Cali gas pipeline in Colombia, .

All one hundred and eight (108) skids were completed and
delivered within a demanding time-frame of eight months.

The pipeline, and its segments, has a total length of 740 km, and
supplies natural gas to 48 municipalities located in Tolima, Caldas,
Risaralda, Quindío and Valle del Cauca. The main line of the City Gate Station for 77 MMSCFD of natural gas
pipeline is 20-inch width and has 66 connection points for local
providers power plants located in the area.

EN-FAB, Inc. designed, engineered, manufactured, installed and

commissioned two (2) Ultrasonic Metering and regulation stations.
These units were for a GSP Pipeline project in Chihuahua, Mexico.
The meters are 20” and 16” Ultrasonic meters with a flowing capac-
ity of 233 MMSCFD at 900 psig and 144 MMSCFD at 900 psig respec-
tively. These stations are operated unattended via a local control
panel with flow computer and PLC connected to the pipeline DCS
through Ethernet.

The system includes receipt, measurement, and control equipment

at the receipt station, as well as block valves, pig launchers and
receivers, cathodic protection, supervisory control and data
acquisition (SCADA), leak-detection systems, maintenance facilities,
warehouse, and a control center at the first compressor station.

The custody-transfer measurement station is installed just outside

the interconnection with PGPB at Ciudad Pemex. Gas filtration,
preheating, regulating, and measurement facilities are installed
adjacent to the new Merida III plant, which was constructed, for
both Merida III and the existing Merida II power plant.

Measurement stations were installed at Valladolid for the existing Pipeline Inauguration by Mexican President Ernesto Zedillo
combined-cycle plant in Campeche and for one other new plant.
Other new stations were connected at Lerma (Campeche), Nachicocom (Merida), and Valladolid II.
The system included launchers and receivers able to run pigs between all compressor station sites and the
line terminus.

The El Encino-La Laguna Pipeline is a natural gas pipeline in Mexico

that runs from El Encino Compression Station in Chihuahua State to
La Laguna and Laredo Power Plant in Durango State. The project

EN-FAB, Inc. is a multi-discipline company offering design, fabrication, service, training and operation of surface
equipment for the Oil & Gas Industry. EN-FAB currently has 93 full time employees including 6 Professional
Engineers, Inspectors, Technicians and other experienced support staff. 2 Manufacturing facilities, located in
Houston Texas and Muscat, Oman with total under roof fabrication area of 331,674 sq. ft. and 12 acres of
paved/concrete yard.

Founded by Daniel Industries, Inc., and privately owned since 1995, our growth and success is the result of
