DIGITAL Poster Making Contest

Rules and Guidelines

1. The contest is open to all CAS Students, officially enrolled this Second Semester, AY
2019-2020

2. Each program shall have one participant with ONE entry only.

3. The poster must illustrate, interpret and emphasize the theme of the 2020 Women’s
Month Celebration “I am Generation Equality”.

4. The participants may use any software (indesign/MS publisher/photo paint/corel


draw) at his/her convenience as long as it is available in the computer unit. However,
the organizers will install photoshop in all the units to be used for the competition.

5. The competition venue shall be held at the computer Laboratory on March 4, 2020 at
10:30 – 12:30 noon.

6. The finished posters are 8.5x11 inches (300 DPI) in size, landscape or portrait layout,
and must be saved in JPEG format.

7. All photos/artworks/cliparts/vectors in the poster must be original. Poster designs


containing downloaded brushes, cliparts and related materials will not be considered by
the judges.

8. Each participants should bring their original photos.

9. Participants must finish the posters in two hours.

10. Computer lab rules will be applied, (avoid indecent/improper behavior during the
contest)

11. Each participant shall print their final digital posters for exhibit.

12. All outputs will be posted during the culmination day.

13. Participants should be at the venue 1 hour before the competition.

14. Participants should be registered 3 days before the competition. They must present
a photocopy of their school ID and official enrolment registration form, and the filled out
registration sheet.

15. Failure to comply with the foregoing rules shall be the grounds for disqualification.
16. The posters will be judged according to the following criteria:

Creativity and Presentation (40%) -  The Poster design must captivate the judges’
senses, taking into consideration the aesthetic principles of symmetry, focal
point, pattern, perspective, dimensionality and proportion

Originality (30%) - It must show the ability to be inventive and creative.

Relevance to the theme (30%) -   The design should effectively communicate the
given theme.
WOMEN’S MONTH COSPLAY COMPETITION

Mechanics

1. The contest is open to all CAS students who are fans of cosplay. Students must present a photocopy of
their ID, official registration form, together with the filled out registration form.

2. This contest is a themed category. Participants can cosplay any character depicting the contemporary
Filipina who contributed change in the society and created innovations for development. The woman
character should be popular locally, nationally, and globally.

3. Interested cosplayers should register starting March 1 to 3, 2020.

4. Contestants are required to submit a reference photo of the person that they’ll be cosplaying upon
registration. Contestants who do not provide a picture reference will not be allowed to join.

5. Contestants are allowed a maximum of one (1) minute to perform his/her skit on stage. Exceeding the
time limit will result in a score penalty.

6. Contestants are allowed for a maximum of one (1) stage prop that they can use in their performance.
This stage prop must be removed promptly after their performance and must not cause problems for
the performance of the next contestant or damage any of the stage fixtures.

7. Contestants will not be allowed to submit their own video or music track. Instead, a pre-made
background music will be used for all contestants.

8. Costumes that are too revealing are prohibited. Scantily clad and/or sexy costumes are allowed but
are not encouraged. The organizers shall have the right to disqualify any participant on this ground.

9. All kinds of costume props must be handled with utmost care and must not be harmful to his/her
fellow cosplayers, event staff and event attendees. Any kind of sharp pointed and/or bladed objects that
will be used as costume props that could cut human flesh are strictly prohibited. Any kind of pyrotechnic
equipment/s that will be used as costume props that could render damage to the venue and/or
property is strictly prohibited.

10. The organizers and its staff will not be held responsible for damage or injury resulting from
mishandling and/or negligence of a cosplayer in his/her use of props/materials throughout the duration
of the event.

11. The organizers and its staff reserve the right to disqualify any cosplayer who ignores and/or violates
any of the aforementioned guidelines.

12. The judges’ decisions are final and cannot be appealed.

13. Registration and participation to contest constitutes that the cosplayer gives the right and the
authority to the organizers and its staff, its sponsors and authorized press media to take pictures and/or
videos of registered cosplayers and will be the sole property of the organizers/staff, its sponsors and
authorized press media to be used for future publications and/or advertising promotions.
14. Examples of contemporary Filipinas who gave contributions in nation building and in influencing for
social change as well as those who excelled in their chosen careers that promoted their innovations,
arts, and initiatives for the improvement of the humanity are:

CRITERIA FOR JUDGING

a. Construction – 40%

The judges will pay close attention to:


- the quality, stitching and finish of fabric
- the choice of structural materials such as foam, worbla, wood or cardboard and the way they
were treated
- the detail put into crafting the decorations and trimmings
- the overall techniques used and the originality of ideas applied in the costume
- the quality of the wigs, wig-styling, props, customised shoes and makeup
A costume which was not fully handmade will have its customised elements scored as per the above
list while the rest of it will get marked according to how much effort was put into collecting the
appropriate parts and pieces.
b. Accuracy – 40%
The judges will be checking how faithful your costume, hair, make-up and props are to the character
you’re cosplaying as. Important things to look for are:
- Dimensions
- Material and textures
- Colours
- Detailing

c. Presentation – 20%
The goal of cosplay is to look as much like your cosplay character as possible, this includes body motions,
poses and phrases you say. Those who act in character will score higher than those who do not.
