Semi-Detailed Lesson Plan 1

A detailed Lesson Plan for Grade 10 Science

I. Objectives
At the end of the lesson students should be able to:
a. recognize the key functions of biomolecules;
b. explain the difference of biomolecules from each other in terms of their structure
and function; and,
c. appreciate the importance of biomolecules to human body.

II. Subject Matter

Topic: biomolecules
References: Science 9 manual, Quarter 3, DepEd, pp. 145-147
Materials: chalk and board
Time duration and date: 60 minutes/ May 10, 2021

III. Procedure

Teacher’s Activity Learner’s Activity

May we all stand for the prayer. Who can

lead the prayer?
(A student leads the prayer)
Good morning class!

You may now take your seat. Good morning Ma’am!

Let me check the attendance first. Make Thank you, ma’am.

sure that you are in your proper seats so
that you will not be marked absent. (check attendance using a seat plan)

A. Review

Last meeting, we discuss about volcano

and the classifications of volcanic
eruptions, right? Yes Ma’am!

Describe volcano through a concept map.

(Students answer varies)

Let the students summarize their
answers. To make it short, a volcano is an opening
in the earth’s crust through which lava,
volcanic ash, and gases scape.

Now, we classified volcanoes as active

and inactive. In your own words,
differentiate an active volcano from an
inactive one.
Active volcanoes are those that have a
record of eruption within the last 600
years.

In active volcanoes are those that have

not erupted for the last 10,000 years.
Very good. I can say that you really
understand our topic last meeting. (

B. Motivation

Class, can you share your ideas or

opinion about the picture?

(The students will write their ideas on the

board) (students write their ideas on the board)

C. Lesson Proper

Basing from your answers, what do you (Students answers varies)

think will be our topic today? Ma’am I think our topic today is about
weather.

Our topic is about climate.

First of all, you should know that

weather and climate are not the same
thing.

Let’s define weather. Weather is the state of the atmosphere,

including temperature, atmospheric
pressure, wind, humidity, precipitation,
Very good, How about climate? and cloud cover.

You may take your seat. Climate is the prevailing set of

conditions.
Weather is what’s happening outside
your window. Weather includes sunshine,
rain, cloud cover, winds, hail, snow,
sleet, freezing rain, flooding, blizzards, ice
storms, thunderstorms, steady rains
from a cold front or warm front, excessive
heat, heat waves and more.

While climate is the average of many

years of weather observation.

Did you all understand?

Yes Ma’am.
Before we start our topic, I want you to
read and understand our objectives
today.
Objectives:
 Define Climate change.
 Recognize the cause and effect of
climate change.
 Give ways how to prevent climate
change.
Our topic today is about Climate change.
To activate your prior knowledge and
explore what you know and what you
heard about this topic I want you to write
a short essay about the word climate
change. You will be given 5 minutes.
(after 5 minutes the teacher will let some
of the students read their work)

According to your classmate Climate

change includes both global (volunteers read their work)
warming driven by human-induced
emissions of greenhouse gases and the
resulting large-scale shifts in weather
patterns. That’s right!

Climate change is identifiable change in

the climate of Earth as a whole that lasts
for an extended period of time.

What do you think causes climate

change?

Very good, those words that you have Deforestation, cutting trees, burning and
mention are one of the reasons why many more.
climate change happens.

There are 2 major possibilities called

natural causes and human activities.

How do you think natural processes

cause climate change?
(Student answers varies)

Deforestation

Wild fires and cutting trees.

(Students answers varies)

Fossil-fuel combustion, industrial
production, greenhouse gases, solar
activity, agriculture

Other natural causes climate change are

volcanoes, plate tectonic and solar
changes.

And the other major possibility are the

human activities. And these are the
words that you have mentioned a while
ago. How do you think human activities
causes climate change?
(student answer varies)

Some human activities increase the green

houses in the atmosphere.
Such as? Burning fossil fuels and deforestation

What else? Dumping waste in land fill and

agriculture.

Absolutely right!

Now, find a partner. In a ½ sheet of paper

write what are the possible effects of
climate change or give a scenario where
you experience climate change then on
the other side write a possible way to
prevent climate change. Understood?
Yes Ma’am
(the students share their opinions)

Burning fossil fuels

It can affect our health ma’am such as
heat-related illness, injuries and fatalities
from severe weather, water and supply
insecurities.

Climate change also has a negative

impact in ecosystems because climate
change is already changing seasonal
weather patterns and disrupting food
distribution for plants and animals
throughout the world, potentially causing
mass extinction events.
Thank you everyone you make take your
seat.

(The Teacher checked the misconceptions

of the students. Then give more examples
about the possible effects of climate
change.)

D. Generalization

(The students summarize the topic

through concept map) Climate change

Cause Effect
w

IV. Evaluation
Instruction: Read each crossword clue carefully then fill in the puzzle with the correct
answer.
V. Assignment

years.
