The otles Study partners and funding contributors were the Grand Forks/East Grand Forks Chamber, Grand Forks Rogion Economic Development Comporation, Vist Grand Forks, and East Grand Forks Economic Development Authority. The Study’s overall strategic outcome was to develop amenities for you and young families. The Study’s key takeaways were as follows: ‘© More families ae living inthe Grand Forks area. ‘Youth amenities are an opportunity to attract visitors ‘+ Amenities and events drive customers to local businesses in Grand Forks and the Grand Forks area are far below the national average for amusement, recreation, museums, and other attractions, ‘The City(JDA have been working o help facilitate infill development and investment throughout the Grand Forks community through publiiprivate partnerships. As part of the infill redevelopments and growth strategies, the CityIDA. continue to examine strategie opportunities to further increase growth opportunites and incorporate quality of life and experiential economic amenities. ANALYSIS AND FINDINGS OF FACT: Developers throughout the Grand Forks community continue to look for opportunites to incorporate quality of life and experiential opportunites as part of publicprivate Darinersips to include infil redevelopment areas of the downtown, Univesity of North Dakota, Columbia Mall, and Grand Cities Mall ‘As of September 1, 2021, Crary Development and associated partners will own the former Kart store and ae intending to redevelop the former Kmart store into a drive-in storage and real development as part of an estimated $25 milion investment. The former Kmart store location is approximately 100,000 square fet. The redevelopment project iin the Renaissance Zone and has previously received the five-year propery tx and income ax exemptions. “The adjacent Grand Clie Mall also working through a master planning process to renovate the mall into a modern mixed-use development both inside and ouside th mall propery. {As pat ofthe Kmart redevelopment strategy, Crary Development and associated partners and the City administration have had discussions with SeaQuest representatives regarding the potential to bring this experiential opportunity to Grend Forks and the region. Grand Forks is a smaller metropolitan market than the existing SeaQuest sites and would expect to draw less than 300,000 visitors. Grand Forks has an approximately 300-mile market to attract visitors t0 a Grand Forks location. ‘The SeaQuest location atthe Grand Forks location is centrally and strategically located in the midtown and Renaissance Zone area that is prime for redevelopment. The location is ‘well served from public transportation hub perspectives. In order to bring SeaQuest to Grand Forks witha top tie facility, the SeaQuest funding request is upto S1 million. The funding request is itended to reduce SeaQuests risk in pening in the smaller metropolitan market of Grand Forks with a top tice facility that SeaQuest has located in lager markets lke Las Vegas and Minneapolis.
