Define the following terms:

a. Ethics – is moral principles that govern a person's behavior or the conducting of an activity.

b. Biology- is the natural science that studies life and living organisms, including their physical
structure, chemical processes, molecular interactions, physiological mechanisms, development
and evolution. Despite the complexity of the science, certain unifying concepts consolidate it
into a single, coherent field.
c. Morality- principles concerning the distinction between right and wrong or good and bad behavior.

d. Bioethics- is the study of typically controversial ethics brought about by advances in biology and
medicine. It is also moral discernment as it relates to medical policy, practice, and research.

e. Health Ethics- is the application of the core principles of bioethics (autonomy, beneficence,


nonmaleficence, justice) to medical and health care decisions. It is a multidisciplinary lens through which
to view complex issues and make recommendations regarding a course of action.

f. Professional Ethics- is concerned with the obligations and responsibility that arise out of a particular
kind of service performed for individuals or groups, and in that sense approximate obligations arising
out of contractual agreements.

g. Nursing Ethics- A system of principles governing the conduct of a nurse. Nursing ethics deals with the
relationship of a nurse to the patient, the patient's family, associates and fellow nurses, and society at large.
