Syllabus for Practical Exams

Only the Group B subjects in the NIOS board have practical exams. T hese are carefully designed to provide students with the most relevant real-life
applications of a particular subject. T hey also help deepen their knowledge and thoroughly grasp the concepts of a topic. It helps prepare students for the
practical aspects of a future job in the chosen field of study. Practical exams account for 20 marks, in the final grade.

NIOS Syllabus To-Dos

Make a study plan and stick to it: A detailed and organized study plan will serve two main purposes in covering the syllabus on time. It will give a clear
idea of the amount of time you need to dedicate to each subject and topic. Distribute the syllabus into small chunks and plan accordingly so as to
complete the syllabus on time. By sticking to the study plan, students will also cultivate a sense of discipline required to complete a vast syllabus
thoroughly, and on time.
Set realistic g oals: Making a study plan for 16-18 hours a day is not only unrealistic but also unhealthy. It would not be a well-balanced study routine, and
would eventually backfire, as you would not be giving yourself enough rest, sleep or relaxation. Students can study for shorter periods, but with complete
focus without any gadgets or distractions.
Start with the weak or dif f icult subjects f irst: T his is absolutely crucial, as the students might need to go over weak or difficult subjects several
times, or get external help, which won’t be possible if left for last minute. Studying weaker sections first ensures that no last-minute panic.
Go the extra mile beyond the syllabus: T his should be done if students have the time and have already completed the syllabus and revised several
times. However, it is useful to remember that the exams are not only about passing a certain subject, but are about preparing you for the real world, and
life beyond school. As such, students may need to go the extra mile and do their own research about a particular field of study to thoroughly grasp the
subject. Remember that open studying is about the application, and rote-learning will not help you here as your answers need to be original, and reflect
your thinking capacities.
