  real‌‌   world,‌‌   or‌‌  both.‌‌
  Ostracism‌‌   was‌‌  a ‌‌
procedure‌  ‌under‌  ‌Athenian‌  ‌democracy‌  ‌in‌  ‌which‌‌   any‌‌   citizen‌‌   could‌‌   be‌‌   expelled‌‌   from‌‌   the‌‌   city-state‌‌  of‌‌
  Athens‌‌   for‌‌ 
ten‌  ‌years.‌  ‌The‌  ‌word‌  ‌"ostracism"‌  ‌continues‌  ‌to‌  ‌be‌  ‌used‌  ‌for‌  ‌various‌  ‌cases‌  ‌of‌  ‌social‌  ‌shunning.‌  ‌Cancel‌  ‌culture‌  ‌is‌‌
