Overview
This article outlines the steps required to import the required Oracle Transactional
Business Intelligence report and run the report for an existing element to generate the
HDL template for the element details and questionnaire objects.
Additionally, it also outlines how the extracted template can be edited to create the
element to suit the need.

Import Catalog
Download the archived catalog file (.catalog file) from the customer connect.
Navigate to Oracle Transaction Business Intelligence application catalog Using the
‘Reports and Analytics’ Browse Catalog button.

Click on the ‘Custom’ on the sidebar to the right.

Click on ‘Unarchive’ link on the bottom of the sidebar.

Select the downloaded ‘Element HDL Template Generator.catalog’ file, in the upload
popup and click on the OK button.

Once the upload completes to success, check if the ‘Element HDL Template Generator’
folder is available, with two objects in it along with ‘Element HDL Template Generator
Report’ object.

Click on ‘Edit’ link below the Element HDL Template Generator Report item and verify
the corresponding data model in the same folder is selected.

Run report to extract template
Navigate to ‘Element HDL Template Generator Report’ object from the uploaded folder
and click on the ‘Open’ link below the report object.

Provide values to ‘Legislative Data Group Name’ and ‘Element Name’ fields and click on
‘Apply’. These correspond to the payroll element intended to be used as sample, as
shown below.

The output is content of HDL file required to create a payroll element similar to the
sample element provided.

The output can be downloaded as text and it should be saved as
‘PayrollElementDetails.dat’ and zipped.

Modify Template
The downloaded HDL template data corresponds to the sample element used. Its
attributes have to be edited to suit the new element intended to be created. Some of the
attributes are highlighted below, but it by no means is a complete list.

The PayrollElementQuestionnaire lines list the questions and answers,

highlighted below, required to create the intended element. The answers need to be
appropriately modified as required.
