Course Title: Transportation Engineering-II

Course Code: CE-311
Course Duration: One Semester
Credit Units: 3 Credit Hrs (Contact Hrs. 03)
Level: 7th Semester, 4th Year
Medium of Instruction: English
Prerequisites: Transportation Engineering-I
Equivalent Courses: Not Applicable
Course Aims:
The course aims at enabling the Civil engineering students to:
1. Develop an understanding of the principles of highway planning with regard to location
survey and geometric design of components of the road systems in diverse terrains, and
application of the design principles to the efficient, economical and harmonious design of
horizontal and vertical alignment.
2. An understanding of the material properties that go into structural design of rigid/flexible
pavements, and determination of appropriate pavement thicknesses for new roads and
maintenance of existing pavements relevant to axle load applications.
