OUTSTATION BROCHURE

SYMBHAV 2021

Symbhav, a cultural, legal and sports fest organised by the students of Symbiosis Law School- Pune, is a one-of-its-kind annual event and the largest
college festival in Pune. Year after year, Symbhav has proved to be a confluence of people and ideas from across the country, and has grown to become
one of the best college festivals in the country. True to its spirit, Symbhav continues to become more inclusive and diverse, thriving to build upon the
foundation laid years ago. The myriad of themes from the previous years, like ‘Winds of Change’ and ‘Quantum Leap to the Future’ are testimony to the
ideas that Symbhav has been built upon.

At a time when the world is experiencing “a new normal” caused by unprecedented and drastic lifestyle changes, it has been an opportunity for humankind
to take a step back and acknowledge the actions of the past. This has also provided numerous opportunities to learn from the excellent examples set forth
by countless individuals. These individuals have strived to uplift humankind at its darkest hours, and employ these ideals in the walk towards progress.
Pioneers of scientific advancements, feminism, environmental preservation and other areas of social and public importance, have paved a magnificent
path for the youth to walk on. Through discussions and discourse, through literature and research, and through determination and actions, humans have
the power to transform the world for the better. The power of precedents of the heroes of the past is encouragement for the champions of tomorrow.

Taking inspiration from the past year and its events, Symbhav 2021 will be hosted virtually on the 28th, 29th and 30th of April, 2021 celebrating the acts
of the past that inspire, encourage and motivate us. It will be a reminder of the precedents set forth by people in the past and an encouragement for the
future. The theme, “Paradigms of Progress”, cheers on progress and the ideals that bring about change and progress. It is a call to embrace the way
forward and to actively participate in it, to learn from the precedents and apply them in the future.

Law Theatre

Symbhav 2021 and it’s Cultural Committee present one of their flagship events - Law Theatre!

Law theatre is a one-of-it’s-kind event, combining elements of law and theatre, using the means of the latter to disseminate
and intrigue minds about pertaining legal issues. The idea is to develop a holistic understanding of Law & Society by observing
its norms and identifying the behavioral, cognitive and emotional patterns of the people who engage with the same. Held on
the first day of Symbhav, Law Theatre is an inseparable tradition of Symbhav and is the fruit of a month-long effort.

We believe that legal education should not be confined to the traditional pedagogy of mere classroom teaching-learning
processes or internships and moots, it should be extended to a well woven mechanism of understanding socio-legal issues.

In spirits of the same, Law Theatre incorporates learning on a personal and emotional level through monumental depictions like
the ‘Tilak Trial’, ‘Nanavati Trial’, ‘Gandhi Sedition Trial’; or through original works of the students deliberating upon issues like witch
hunting, rights of prostitutes, rights of Rohingya refugees, or marital rape.
SLSPMUN

The United Nations, arguably one of the world’s most recognizable intergovernmental organizations, has been an upholder of
peace, progress and rational debate ever since its inception. The concept of Model United Nations, or MUN, aims to simulate
this atmosphere of civil discourse committed to the good of humanity. Through the various organs simulated at Symbiosis
Law School Pune Model United Nations, 2021, we hope to do justice to a mode of discussion that is more than just an activity for
students to gain accolades, but is also a crucial endeavor in honing the skills of the diplomats, policymakers, and ambassadors
of tomorrow.

The seven committees to be simulated at SLSPMUN ’21 – The United Nations Security Council (UNSC), the United Nations Environment
Programme (UNEP), the United Nations General Assembly Social, Cultural and Humanitarian Committee (SOCHUM), the All India
Political Parties Meet (AIPPM), the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC), the International Press and the War
Cabinet – shall convene to discuss a wide range of matters of crucial importance, testing the delegates’ skills of oration, tact,
conflict-resolution and collaboration. Each committee at SLSPMUN ‘21 promises to offer delegates an immersive and enriching
experience that will not be easily forgotten.

Iridescence

Symbiosis Law School, Pune is home to “Iridescence” – an annual photography exhibition and competition, which provides a
platform for students who have an interest in photography to showcase their work, and display their creative and technical skills.
It is a celebration of photography and encourages learning. The event also witnesses the conduct of a workshop or masterclass
delivered by distinguished professionals, to the budding photographers. Iridescence 2021 will be hosted virtually on the 29th of
April, 2021.

The theme of Iridescence 2021 is “Shape of Water”. The idea behind this concept is to allow participants the opportunity to exhibit
moments of transient change, balance, free flow, and to immortalize those transformations in life which are infinitely yielding
and powerful, by capturing them in one photograph of brilliance. Furthermore, we wish to depict the versatility of water in all its
forms - liquid, ice and dew, each communicating with different variables and becoming apt for the shutter of a camera. The
perception and interpretation of the element of water, which retains no constant shape, is left to the capturer’s artistic liberty.
