To prevent damage occurring to the weigher system during tran-

sit, the weighing belt is delivered separately. The follow-

ing instructions show now how to fit the weighing belt.

1. Bring the checkweigher to the place where it is to be

Installed.

2. Insert the four fixing screws into the support frame of the

weighing belt.

3. Set the support frame onto the three-point fixing of the

weighing cell, and bolt into position.

4. Set the weighing belt onto the support frame and screw it on

from beneath.

5. A
lign the checkweigher against the built-in spirit level on
the baseplate .'
6. Align the feed and removal conveyor belts so that the weigh-

ing belt is completely free; the belts must not touch each

other under any operating conditions whatever.

Align all the belts such that they are level.

7.

8. Model SL 2:

Set the motor plug onto the plug base and pull on the fixing

sleeve by hand. Place the cable cover over the plug. The

cable must be free to sag between the motor and the plug unit.

Model SL 3:

The motor for the weighing belt must be connected up at the

terminal box on the baseplate in accordance with the wiring

diagram supplied. Place the cable cover over the terminal

box. The motor cable must be free to sag between the motor and

the connector box.

Preparations for transportinq the checkweiqher

The system must never be transported as a whole, but must first be

dismantled (reverse order of above operations) and the separate

parts carefully packed.

CAUTION !

The weighing cell of the checkweigher is a sensitive measuring inst-

rument. Do not use unnecessary force on it, and do not tilt it unne-

cessarily.

4.0 CHECRWEIGIIE~
WITH DIGITAL ADJUSTMENT SWITCHES

The checkweigher allows for continuous weighing of similar products.

I
The following points must be observed for proper weight checking: I., 7

1,
1. As the weigh cell is a sensitive measuring instrument, un-
'necessary force and tilting must generally be avoided. 1. .
2. The maximum weight indicated on the name plate must never be b
exeeded .
I, +
3. The checkweigher should never be subject to jolts because this
may affect the weighing mechanism.
i
I
The unlt can be switched on by the main switch "I", see drawing page

3. It should be switched on approx. 2 minutes before use to assure a " i

constant function of the electronic circuitry.
I
The belt drives are to be switched ON/OFF by switch " 2 " .
I
The belt drives' speed is steplessly adjustable by R1 ( R 1 + R 2 ) I
(exept SL 100 with three-phase-motor). It depends on the edge length
of the product seen in direction of transport, on the distance of - t
achsles of the weighing belt and on the requested weighing capacity.
II L

Example: weighing belt: 230 mm

weighing capacity = 100 pcs./min

Belt speed = total lenqth of weiqhinq belt x weiqhinq capacity

1000

1-

Belt speed:.23 m/min + 10 % reserve = 25.3 m/min.

The products to be checked must one by one be fed to the weighing

belt with a certain minimum distance. This results from the distance
'- e k

of axle of the weighing belt and the edge length of the product.
Example: distance of achsles = 230 mi
It
edge length of the product = 80 mm
minimum spacing = total length of the weighing belt - edge length 1
= 230 mm - 80 mm IT

I
minimum spacing = 150 mm + 10 % reserve = 165 mm
1-
I. -
The minimum spacing is the distance between the rear edge of the
product on the weighing belt and the front edge of the product 2 i
front o f t h e weighing belt. I-

4.1 SETTING OF THE LIMIT VALUES

The checkweigher with digital adjustment switches can be equipped

with a maximum of 4 adjustment switches for 4 limit values.

Setting the limit values

Example for 2 limit values:

Weight 250g, permissible deviation +/- 1 - 5 9 results in a

PLUS 1 limit of 251.5g (TO 1) and a MINUS 1 limit of
248.59 (TU 1)

Example for 4 limit values

weighr 2509, 1st permissible deviation +/- 1.5g

2nd permissible diviation + / - 5g

results in a PLUS I limit of 251.59 (TO 1) and a PLUS 2

limit .of 2559 (TO 2),

a MINUS 1 limit of 248.59 (TU 1) and a MINUS 2 limit of

245g (TU 2)

The value 251.5 must be set on adjustment switch TO 1 for the PLUS 1

limit.

The value 255 must be set on adjustment switch TO 2 for the PLUS 2

limit..

The MINUS 1 limit of 248.5 is set on adjustment switch TU 1 and the

MINUS 2 limit on adjustment switch TU 2.

The yellow field on the adjustment switches represents the decimal

point. For deviations in full grams the decimal point is eliminated

or must te set to zero.

The checkweigher is provided with either 2 or 4 limit values as

standard equipment. If all of limit values are not required, the
adjustment switches for the TO values must be set to the highest
value (9999) and those for the TU value to the lowest value (0000).

13.0 ADJUSTMENT OF THE SORTING DELAY BY CODE SWITCH X3 AND X4

Part of component plan 646.1830-03

The tacho generator of the outlet belt's drive motor transmits speed

proportional pulses (distance measurement). The information given by

the checkweigher (minus, plus) are transmitted separately into 2

shlft registers ( 5 - R ) the length of which being adjustable from 1-63

and transferred through them to the sorting device by the

generator's pulses.

The delay is determined by the length of the shift register. It is

to be entered binary by two 6-fold code switch (X3 and X4) on the

command logic 646.1830-03 (X3 for underweights, X4 for overweights).

Valance of-switch 1-6: 1, 2, 4, 8, 16, 32.

Switch position OFF corresponds an active signal. The delay is to be

adjusted by a corresponding switch position. The distance (light

barrier - sorting3 once entered is valid for each belt speed.

Examples

Delay over 43 pulses

The switches.have to have the following position:

14.0 ELECTRO-PNEUMATIC SORTING DEVICE "SWING GATE"

1. Set the air regulator (15) on the maintenance unit to 4 - 6 bar.

2. There are two devices for the correct adjustment of

the swing gate which allow for the individual adaptation of

the sorting process.

a) The air throttle "16" controls the speed of the swing

gate's movement which can be regulated from "no

movement" to "abrupt reaction" by turning the adjustment

screw.

b) The air throttle "17" has the same function and

controls the backward movement of the air cylinder.
