ABSTRACT

Statement of the Problem

The study aimed to find out the most common sports injuries and the

coping mechanism of Special program in Sports (SPS) players of Labangal

National High School.

Specifically, it sought answers to the following questions:

1. What is the profile of the Special Program in Sports (SPS) players of

Labangal National High School?

1.1 Age

1.2 Sex

1.3 Sports

2. What are the most common sports injuries of Special Program in

Sports (SPS) players of Labangal National High School in terms of:

2.1 Fracture

2.2 Sprain

2.3 Swelling

2.4 Bruise

3. What are the coping mechanisms employed to most common sports

injuries of Special Program in Sports (SPS) players of Labangal

National High School in terms of:

3.1 Proper Exercise

3.2 Coach Role


4. Is there any significant relationship between the most common sports

injuries and the coping mechanisms of Special Program in Sports

(SPS) players of Labangal National High School?

Conclusions

In view of the findings of this study, the following conclusions were made.

1. It could be drawn that the majority of Special Program in Sports (SPS)

player’s Age of Labangal National High School were 14-15. This was

visible among forty-four (44) out of one-hundred (100) or forty-four

percent (44%). This means that Special Program in Sports (SPS)

player’s age ranging in 14-15 were the most dominant age in Special

Program in Sports (SPS) of Labangal National High School .

2. On the sex of Special Program in Sports (SPS) player of Labangal

National High School during the school year 2017-2018, it was drawn

that majority of the players were male. This was manifested among 57

out of 100 or 57%.

3. On the sports of Special Program in Sports (SPS) players of Labangal

National High School during the school year 2017-2018, it was drawn

that majority of the players are under volleyball. This was visible among

thirty-three (33) out of one-hundred (100) or thirty-three percent (33%).

This means that Special Program in Sports (SPS) players’ sport which

is volleyball were the most dominant sport in Special Program in Sports

(SPS) of Labangal National High School .


4. In Common Sports Injuries of Special Program in Sports (SPS)

players of Labangal National High School during the school year 2017-

2018, it was drawn that majority of the players’ injuries is sprain.

5. In Coping Mechanisms, it was shown that both proper exercise and

coach role were employed to most common sports injuries of Special

Program in Sports (SPS) players of Labangal National High School

during the school year 2017-2018.

6. The common sports injuries and the coping mechanisms of Special

Program in Sports (SPS) players have significant relationship at 0.05

level of significance.

Recommendations

The following recommendations are hereby given:

1. The status of all the variables such as Common Sports Injuries and It’s

Coping Mechanisms need to have an action on the implementation of the

school staffs, the community, the players and also the coaches.

2. The players should participate in exercising with proper execution. Students

should listen to the advice of their coaches.

3. On the other side, coaches should encourage and motivate their players to

participate proper exercising and explain to their players of the injuries that

they will get when they will not do proper exercising. Coach should assists

their players during practice and play sessions.
