JESSICA EPIS - LARAN

INTRODUCTION

Beauty ‘n Health Madness is a retailing store that focuses on buying and selling Food and Drug
Administration (FDA) approved beauty and health products. It will not sell illegitimate products
because customers’ safety is its prime concern. Since beauty and health industry have been
showing explosive growth nowadays, especially among young and middle- aged members of the
community, the venture’s target clients, the proprietor has seen an opportunity to put up a venture
upon the knowing that a new shopping mall will be instituted within the area of Maasin City.

The store will offer various legitimate beauty and health products coming from various suppliers.
Accordingly, it is to be noted that the store will not be limited to the products listed since in
health and beauty industry, innovators and manufacturers will introduce many new products in
the market from time to time. As new products are offered in the market, Beauty ‘n Health
Madness will also adjust to the changes for its benefit depending on the market demand and

also by other neighboring municipalities.
Currently, it is noticeable that there are now stores in Maasin City that offers beauty and health
products but in Beauty ’n Wellness Madness, customers are secured that its products are

Promotion

Beauty ‘n Health Madness’ strategy is based on serving our markets well. We will start
our first outlet as a “market tester” that could become a model of the expanding number
of outlets in the future. Concentration will be on maintaining quality and establishing a
strong identity in the local market.

Beauty ‘n Health Madness’ main focus in marketing will be to increase customer

awareness in the surrounding community. It will direct all tactics and programs toward
the goal of explaining what it is and what it is all about. It will price its products fairly,
keep standards high, and execute the concepts so that “word-of-mouth” will be its main
marketing force.
One advantage of the products offered by Beauty ‘n Health Madness is that they are
already known in the market. You can see them being sold in different social media
platforms and even endorsed by known personalities. Youtoubers and beauty vloggers
were also posting positive product reviews which add up to the promotion strategy of the
store.
Beauty ‘n Health Madness will explore social channels such as Facebook, Twitter and
YouTube for these are like new marketplaces where it can sell its beauty and health
products aggressively. These virtual markets are ideal for reaching to increasing number
of potential consumers. What the proprietor only needs to do is to post interesting content
and visuals regularly to create a dominating presence of his business on all the channels.
He will make sure that the store has a dedicated page for its beauty and health products
on all the popular social channels.

Aside from social media, Beauty ‘n Health Madness will also make use of print- outs
such as of flyers, leaflets and tarpaulins. Flyers and leaflets are single sheets of paper that
have a lot of information such as the store’s product images, some price incentives, and
contact details. The cost of creating a flyer design is very low amongst all marketing
material.

Product of Forecasts

Beauty and personal care are projected to see an even stronger performance
over past years. Growth is expected to be supported by the country’s strong
economic projections and its young and rapidly growing population.

Beauty ‘n Health Madness’ anticipates the highest peak on the months of November
and December in our sales forecasts, due to holiday seasons. On November, workers
specially in the government receive their year- end bonus and cash gifts while on
December, people tend to spend most of their income. These explain the jumped of
sales in these last two months of the year.

Controls

Beauty ‘n Health Madness’ requires a long relationship with the suppliers and
distributors as well as partner vendors. For this to be achieved, the management will
do its best to maintain a good standing to its suppliers and distributors by being a
good payor of all the purchases made and maintaining a good interpersonal
relationship.
Business Strategic Initiatives
The health needs of people are constantly changing, and this has led to the rise in the
demand of the Health and Wellness market at the global level. In present times, the global
health and wellness industry is worth USD 4.2 trillion. Based on the consistent expansion
of the market, it is expected that it will further expand in the next five years. Today,
people are willing to spend more amount of money on improving their health and well-
being. This has driven the demand of the industry to a substantial extent. Some of the key
sectors that exist in the prosperous Health and Wellness industry include healthy eating
and nutrition, personal care and beauty, fitness and mind-body, workplace wellness, and
many more. All these sectors have contributed to the overall growth and expansion of the
entire industry.

Moreover, the rise of the middle class is boosting the Philippine market for health and
beauty products. According to estimates contained in “The Health & Beauty Retailing in
the Philippines, Market Shares, Summary & Forecasts to 2021,” GlobalData said higher
incomes are driving a shift to products for personal care.

Based on the same report, the Philippine economic growth is among the fastest in
Southeast Asia where the retail sector will post a “healthy” compound annual growth rate
of 8.2% in the five years to 2021. The health and beauty sector is forecast to hit P529.1
billion by 2021 with an annual growth rate of 4.7%.

The Beauty and Personal Care market is thriving and one of the fastest growing consumer
markets, driven in particular by the Cosmetics and Skin Care segments. The main reason
for the strong growth is the generational shift of young consumers entering the market.
At the same time, the change is reinforced by social media, internationality and
eCommerce, which have a lasting effect on the buying behavior of beauty products.
Trends from all over the world are spreading and changing the daily beauty and care
routine.

Figure 1 below shows the revenue of the Beauty and Wellness market globally, with
particular emphasis on the Philippines’ total revenue which amounted to US$ 5.67 million.
Figure 1- Revenue generated from beauty and wellness market, esp. in the Philippines

Moreover, Figures 2 and 3 shows the revenue growth for the past years including the
forecasted increase until 2023.

Figure 2. Revenue from Beauty and Personal Care Market in the Phils from 2012-2019 with
forecast for 2020-2023 (Source: Statistica, October 2019)
Figure 3. Revenue growth from Beauty and Personal Care Market in the Phils from 2012-2019
with forecast for 2020-2023 (Source: Statistica, October 2019)

As can be seen, there has been substantial growth in the health and wellness industry. With
the trend, it is expected that the Beauty and Personal Care/ Health and Wellness will
continue to soar, as market shifts their priority to health and wellness.

 Higher monthly rent compared to locations outside the mall.

 No assurance as to the continuity of the products in the market.
 Fewer/smaller market due to class D city classification.
 The existence of mobile retailers who offer “credit” payment mode.
 Majority of the residents are laid back.

B. New technologies

 Maintain a systematic online file and back up of all the transactions.

 Suppliers are more accessible with the emergence of technology.
 Since the business also promotes and sells online, a larger group of clients are
being reached.
 Store-in-charge must have adequate and updated knowledge and training a
about beauty and health care.

C. Contingency Plan

Mismanagement (Theft or Accidental Destruction)

immediately supply anytime.
Response: Categorize list according to stability/accessibility of supplier.

Time delays (Deliveries of Orders)

suppliers (Cellular numbers, Landline or E-mail Addresses.)
