MOM between M/S SUNGENTECH PVT LTD & M/S BALCO

Held on 28.07.2021 at BALCO - 1200MW Power plant, Korba during the overhauling work done
between 11.07.2021 to 28.07.2021

The following are the findings observed in UNIT 2 – ESP and work completed up to date:
1. Water washing work in ESP completed and inspected for cleanliness of the fields made ready for
the inspection and to improve the ionization of ESP

Observation found satisfactory and inspection of fields are carried out.

2. In A Pass:

Field No 111:

Condition of collecting electrodes and alignment is ok

iObservations:

All CE plates are healthy.

Guide bar at inlet and out is ok

Shock bars are found ok

GDRM system:

3 no’s 2 roller bearings and 1 no of bearing found damaged replaced with new found ok.

Shaft alignment to be done .ok

GDRM coupling checking checked found ok.

EERM system:

All the electrodes are ok,

EERM shaft alignment is ok both at top and middle.

Pin wheel assembly at top & middle checked ok

Support insulator and shaft insulator checked ok

EERM motor driving mechanism & coupling to be cleaned for checking. Found ok.
Overhauling of gear box to be done.

Field No 112
Condition of collecting electrodes and alignment

Observations:

Except 3 no’s plates is having bend to be straightened all other CE plates are healthy and firm .
Alignment in rows is ok

Guide bar at inlet and out is ok

Shock bars are found ok

GDRM system:

All hammers and drive shaft assembly is ok. No damage found.

Shaft alignment to be done & lock to be provided

Drive mechanism and motor coupling checked and found ok.
EERM system:

All electrode are available and none missing. Ok

Shaft and support insulator checked and found ok.
EERM motor coupling and driving mechanism checked.ok
Pin wheels and drive shaft checked both at top and middle. ok

Field No 121:

All CE plates are healthy and properly fixed. No misalignment found

Guide bar at striking and non striking and found damaged, removed the damage on and new
guide plate welded. Checked ok.
Shock bars are found ok

GDRM system:

All hammers and drive shaft assembly is ok. No damage found.

Shaft alignment done & lock provided. Ok.

Drive mechanism and motor coupling checked and found ok.
EERM system:

All the electrodes are ok.

Pin wheel assembly at top & middle checked ok

EERM shaft assembly aligned at both top and middle. Ok.

Support insulator and Shaft insulator is ok

Drive coupling checked and ok

Field No 122:

All CE plates are healthy and properly fixed. No misalignment found

Guide bar at striking and non striking and found damaged, removed the damage on and new
guide plate welded. Checked ok.
Shock bars are found ok

GDRM system:
Shaft alignment done & lock provided

Motor coupling checked .ok

EERM system:
All the electrodes are ok.

Pin wheel assembly at top & middle checked ok

EERM shaft assembly aligned at both top and middle. Ok.

Support insulator and Shaft insulator is ok

 Drive coupling checked and ok

GD screen:

In LHS:

In ESP inlet side, first layer out of 11, 9 rows are damaged in left side,13 plates replaced.

Work done:

Entire plate was cut & new plate fixed

Bracing work completed with new pipes.

Screen brought back to good condition.

In RHS:

In first layer it is observed 8 rows of plate got damaged,12 no’s new plates welded.

2 no’s bracing pipes got damaged.

Work done:

Entire damaged plates were cut & new plates

fixed Bracing work completed with new pipes.

Screen brought back to good condition.

Hoppers:

In hopper no’s 111,112, 121, 122welding work at top & full welding at the sides done.

In pass B:

Field No 221

Condition of collecting electrodes and alignment is ok

Observations:

All CE plates are healthy and properly fixed. No misalignment found

Guide bar at inlet and out is ok

Shock bars are found ok

GDRM system:

2 no’s of 2 roller bearings found damaged, replaced with new.

Shaft alignment ok. Shaft ok
Motor drive coupling checked and found ok.

Work done: work completed.

EERM system:
Observations:

All the electrodes are ok

2 no’s of 4 roller bearings damaged at middle and top, removed and replaced with new.ok.

Pin wheel assembly both at top & middle ok

Support insulator found broken removed and fitted with new. Field lock removed and alignment
found ok. & shaft insulator ok
EERM motor drive mechanism to be checked. Ok.

Field No 212

Condition of collecting electrodes and alignment is ok.

Observations:

All CE plates are good & healthy

No misalignment found

Guide bar at striking and non striking end repair work done. ok

Shock bars are found ok

GDRM system:

All hammers and bearings are ok.

Shaft ok. Alignment done

Drive coupling checked.ok

EERM system:

All the electrodes are ok

1 no 4 roller bearing damaged at top removed and replaced with new.ok.

Shaft ok. Alignment required

Pin wheel assembly both at top & middle ok

Support insulator & shaft insulators are ok

Field No 221

Condition of collecting electrodes and alignment are

ok.

Observations:

CE no 13 is bend. 16 no U clamps to be fixed all other electrodes are ok

Guide bar at inlet and out is ok

Shock bars are found ok

GDRM:
Shaft assembly ok. Alignment ok
4 no’s shock pad, bolts & nuts to be replaced

Drive coupling to be checked

EERM system:

All the electrodes are

ok

1 no bearing, 3 no’s 3 roller bearing to be changed with new at the top

Shaft assembly ok. Alignment required

Pin wheel assembly both at top & middle ok

Support insulator ok & shaft insulators broken to be replaced

Work done:

Damaged shaft insulator removed

Hammer & bearing replaced with new.

All works are pending.

Field No 222

Condition of collecting electrodes and alignment are ok

Observations:

2no’s of CE plates got bend at bottom, bend removed and aligned.ok

Electrodes are ok. No misalignment

Guide bar at inlet and out is ok

Shock bars are found ok
GDRM:-

Shaft assembly ok. Alignment ok

Coupling work done: Ok
EERM system:
All the electrodes are ok

EERM Shaft Alignment to be done

Pin wheel assembly both at top & middle ok

Support insulator, shaft insulator are ok.

Hoppers:

No 221,222,211,212 welding and bracing completed found

ok.

GD screen in pass B:

Both in LHS & RHS at the outer layer about 10 plates and12plates found damaged and they were
changed with new plates. Bracing done and screen found ok. Work completed

ESP man hole doors, insulators are provided with new asbestos rope for airtight sealing.
