Answer all three questions

1. Briefly explain the needs of control chart and Monte Carlo integration. [5 Marks]

2. Surface mount technology (SMT) is used to make the mechanical and electrical connections
of the components to the printed circuit board. Every hour, five boards are selected and
inspected for process-control purposes. The number of defects in each sample of five boards
is noted. Results for seven samples are shown in the following table. [7 Marks]

Set up an appropriate control chart to monitor this process. What is your suggestion about the
control of the process?

3. Generate 5 random values from uniform (0,1) using a =5, c=2, m=20. Start with seed X0=15
and hence evaluate the Monte Carlo integration of
