DESIGN PROJECT: Design of A One Storey Simple Building…Date:23/11/2020.

1.Scope of the design:
*Design continuous slabs, continuous roof beams, continuous grade beams, short
square columns (3 types; corner, edge & meddle), and square pad footings(3
types).
*Draw plan & elevation showing dimensions of the building. Use a suitable scale.
*Draw plans & sections showing dimensions & reinforcement for slabs, roof
beams, grade beams, columns, pad footings. Use suitable scales for the drawings.
2.Given Data:
*Imposed live load 4kN/m2, finishes 1.5kN/m2, fcu 35N/mm2, fy 500N/mm2, cover
30mm, safe soil bearing pressure 180 kN/m2, concrete wt 24kN/m3, brickwork for
walls wt 18kN/m3, & wall thickness 250mm including plaster.
*All dimensions and sizes of structural members are shown on the attached
drawing.
*Use the coefficients in Table 3.19, page 71, for design of continuous beams.
*Use the coefficients in Table 3.23, page 106, for the design of continuous one
way slabs. Use also BS8110:Part 1 & 2.
3.Sumittal date: 6/12/2020.
4.Design Group: Each group not more than (5) students. Oral discussions of the
design will be held on Sunday 6/12/2020.
5.Project Marks: The project will be given 20 marks(50% of course work marks),
so students are strongly advised to execute & present a detailed & excellent
project in both design & drawings.
