Functions
Density acquisition Base density (standard conditions) or observed density (ambient temperature) can be
acquired via 4÷20 mA input.
VEGA T calculates the density average value during product delivery.
Temperature VEGA T (with compensating function) enables calculation of product volume with reference to
compensation base temperature (Tb), usually 15°C or 20°C, for the following products:
(optional) • petrochemical products with configurable API compensation tables (6A, 6B, 6C, 24A, 24B,
53A, 53B, 53D ,54, 54A, 54B, 54D, 60A, 60B, 60D) and BRASIL table.
• ethanol products according to OIML R22 and NBR5992 tables.
• biofuels with PTB table for temperature compensation of minerals and biofuel mixtures.
Alternatively compensation with the ALFA cubic expansion coefficient can be used.
Operations
When in local mode VEGA T can manage product delivery according to the enabled functions and perform the following
operations:
• select product via keyboard or external selector
• select type of loading (top/bottom) via external selector
• check interlocks and signals
• set the preset
• start product delivery from keyboard or external button
• open selector/shut-off/ vapour recovery valves, and start pump according to the timing set in the pertaining
parameters
• management of the loading process via preset valves. In this stage, besides product measurement, VEGA T
performs flow rate, temperature and automation control
• close the preset when the preset product quantity has been delivered
• close selector/shut-off/ vapour recovery valves, and stop pump according to the timing set in the pertaining
parameters
• summarize data and print loading reports.
Delivery management
When in remote mode VEGA T is controlled by a TAS (Terminal Automation System) and once initialized it works
independently controlling product delivery by means of the devices it is connected to. The system can control the
following functions:
• identification of operator via pin code or badge and loading permission management
• delivery start and stop, method selection (top/bottom loading, automatic/semiautomatic), reset of quantity, density
update
• enabling/disenabling meter
• alarm reset
• data acquisition (status)
• preliminary and final data summary
• download of product delivery data.
Remote control is achieved though serial communication with proprietary or ModBus RTU protocol.
Valves
VEGA T can manage different valve types:
• Two stages: two stages valve allows supply of the preset quantity by controlling the two solenoid valves (one for
Low flow and one for High flow). Flow rate values can be pre-set by acting mechanically on the valve while the VEGA
T manages low flow stage at the beginning of product delivery, high flow stage and low flow at the end of flow rate
in order to avoid splash phenomena and the formation of foam. The duration of the different phases can be set in
the specific parameters. Moreover the automatic final adjustment function can be used: if required, the preset ends
with a series of short valve openings until the exact preset value is reached.
• Multistep (digital valve): this valve not only allows managing of the initial and final low flow stage, but it also allows
for dynamic regulation of flow rate at pre-set value by acting on the solenoid valves (one NO and one NC). This
regulates the position of the valve diaphragm.
This valve has a default high flow rate value and two lower high flow rate values that can be controlled by two
digital inputs. Flow rate can alternatively be set via serial line message.
• Analog (4÷20 mA): VEGA T can drive any valve with suitable hydraulic characteristics thanks to the 4÷20 mA signal.
Product delivery and flow rate values are managed in the same way as for digital valves.
Ticket printing
VEGA T can print two configurable tickets with a set of specific parameters via serial line protocols. Tickets can be
printed with the following ISOIL printers:
• ST100 - impact dot matrix printer (blank or pre-printed ticket)
• ST500-M
The system allows connection of up to 16 electronic counters in multi-point via RS422 or RS485 serial line. The
ST500-M collects data from each VEGA T and sends them to a 80 columns printer. Data can be checked and
managed thanks to CRC16.
Each digital input can be programmed as “consent” for loading (interlock) or as signal linked to a specific function.
If the configuration is made as interlock, you can select:
• input logic (OK if closed, OK if open)
• type of loading (top, bottom, top and bottom)
• action (functions with optional command to configurable D/O)
• label (signal meaning is shown in full on the display) among the following:
Interlock number, Interlock from Badge Reader, Grounding, Top/bottom Loading Arm, Tank Truck Presence, Manual
valve, Top/Bottom Loading Arm Manual valve, Vapour Recovery Valve, Top/Bottom Loading Vapour Recovery Valve,
Overfilling, Overfilling of Top/bottom Loading, Dead man, Dirty strainer, Emergency, Bay Emergency Stop, Vapour
Recovery, Tank level, Right/Left Loading Arm, Right/Left Grounding System.
• Three more labels can be configured as needed: for each customized consent the operator has 4 lines of 15 digits
each.
Each input configured as signal can be associated to a specific function. It is therefore possible to select loading type
(top/bottom) and one of the following signal types:
General Signal, Remote Start, ATB/ATK Preset Remote Start, Remote Stop, ATB/ATK Preset Remote Stop, Local/Remote
Selector, Top/Bottom Loading Selector, ATB/ ATK Selector, ATK Preset Selector, Anti-overfilling Bypass, Open/Closed
Vapour Recovery Micro Valve, Open/Closed Block Micro Valve, Product Selection, Start/Stop ON/OFF, Additive injection
not ready, Additive pump, Flow Reduction, Injection Piston Feed-back, Gas Extractor Level (STOP/LF).
Outputs
VEGA T has several outputs (see Technical Data table), each one can be associated to a specific function (see
Parameters Manual).
Data type of pulses (volume, compensated volume and weight) and k factor (multiplication factor) can be defined for
each output.
Additive injection
VEGA T manages product additive injection :
• by connecting to smart additive injection devices, receiving pulses according to the quantity and control the
hydraulic circuit with a dosing valve, piston or pump for product delivery according to the required percentage.
VEGA T allows you to control two separate devices with a maximum of four additives, each using the following
digital signals:
- n° 2 D/O (digital output) to select device
- n° 4 D/O (digital output) to select additive
- n° 2 D/I (digital input) to acquire alarms.
By combination of different function modes up to 6 additives can be injected at the same time.
