NIMS University Jaipur: Ph.D.

Economics Selection Process, Course Fee, Placement

Macroeconomics and microeconomics are commonly covered in a Ph.D. in Economics. This degree,

on the other hand, is useful if you wish to teach or conduct formal economic research. The final

years of enrollment are dedicated to the research, writing, and defense of a dissertation when the

proposal has been approved and the oral test has been passed.

Many students are interested in continuing their education in this field. The most significant

opportunity in the discipline of Economics is that it is primarily concerned with research. A Ph.D.

degree should only be pursued if a person has a strong desire to work in the field of research. PhDs

are typically pursued by those who work in the academic field. This could lead to a greater

understanding of the particular field or subject.

Through their education, research, field activity, and extension, many of them have worked in a

variety of disciplines spanning from civil society to policymaking. After finishing the Ph.D. in

Economics course, students will be able to comprehend a wide range of theoretical disputes in

economics and business, assess economic problems, and evaluate the implications for economic

policy and corporate planning and strategy. Most economist professions require a master's or

doctoral degree in economics. For promotion to higher-level positions, an advanced degree is

sometimes required.

Eligibility Criteria for Ph.D. Economics:

A Master's degree or a professional degree declared equivalent to a Master's degree by the

applicable statutory regulating authority, with at least 55 percent aggregate marks or a grade of 'B'

on the UGC's seven-point scale (or an equivalent grade in a point scale wherever the grading

system is followed), Applicants belonging to SC/ST/OBC (non-creamy layer)/Differently-abled and

other categories of candidates may be granted a 5% mark reduction from 55 percent to 50 percent,

or an equal grade reduction, as determined by the University Grants Commission from time to time.
