Application Note
InsulGard has RS-485 interface and built-in standard MODBUS-RTU protocol.
Therefore, it can be eventually used with any SCADA system supporting both RS-485
network and MODBUS-RTU. Information that can be obtained from InsulGard into
SCADA is described in the attached document.
We do not have any knowledge and experience with IMPAC and PowerNet.
Therefore, we can not advice on this.
You can get all the information on PD using our software that also support RS-485
and MODBUS-RTU, but we do not know how it will interfere with particular SCADA
software, if used over the same wires. This can be resolved only on case by case
basis and is application specific.

ERROR HANDLING AND EXCEPTION RESPONSES

In case of supported exceptions or errors the device sets 1 in the most significant bit
of the returned function code (0x81 and 0x83 accordingly). The data byte following the
function code should contain in this case one of the supported exceptions. No
message length included.

Exception codes supported:

02 – Illegal register
03 – illegal number of registers
Error codes 01, 04, 05, 06, 07, 08 are not supported.
