1. Do you think teachers should use television programs to help promote attention to concepts
they teach? Explain your answer briefly.

Television plays an important role in enhancing education, in which I believe that using TV as a


teaching tool provides a momentary shift in the dynamic within the classroom through the
educational television programs content that makes a connection between the show and the
concept being studied in class. Also, the Students get a break from the usual teaching methods
and are forced to shift their attention to a new stimulus. In some instances, showing a program or
clip and then discussing it can present the teacher as a peer for a short span of time. Together,
students and teacher analyze what they just viewed. For these reasons, television can be a
welcome addition to the classroom, if it's used wisely. High-quality educational content
presented judiciously can help students at different educational levels grasp new concepts and
even add a little enjoyment to class time.
Moreover, for early learners, age-appropriate educational television can help kids prepare to
learn how to read. In which several shows promote sound recognition and letter identification,
Preschoolers can pick up on basic vocabulary, at a more advanced level, young viewers can
explore more complicated literacy concepts like synonyms, rhymes, and relative words. And,
since most very young children have limited access to other media platforms, TV is still the most
reliable way for them to have exposure to this type of content. So, high-quality television content
viewed in moderation can actually help young children learn.

Little learners aren't the only ones who can benefit from appropriate uses of television in the
classroom, though. For older students, televised content can offer information that's more current
than what is available in a textbook. Hard copy resources often can't stay completely up-to-date,
but news coverage and analysis can help students understand what's going on almost in real time.
Similarly, teachers can use this type of content in class as a starting point for discussions about
current events. Classes in science, economics, communication, and art may benefit from
examining recent research developments or even popular culture controversies, and television
can be the medium that facilitates that.
1. Why is it important that teachers understand the background of students in the
classroom?

Understanding students is very important to teaching.  In order to plan how to teach the
students or ways to present a subject in an interesting manner, a teacher needs to know what
motivates the students, what background the students are bringing to the classroom, as well
as the student’s interests. In which Students are impact by their culture, neighborhood, and
peers.  Knowing a little of this background helps the teacher understand students and in turn
can answer question, such as: ‘How can I help this student learn better?’  or ‘What in the
student’s life can I relate this topic to so it is interesting?’ Anyone can stand up and teach a
class about any topic, but understanding the students completes a teacher.
So, teacher who Understand the family structure of the students might help him/her to gain
trust and participation from both the immediate and extended family members. In addition to
that, the teacher that can find out about where her/his students come from, the better he/ she
will understand their strengths, needs, and real-life circumstances and that would be better
able to help them to be successful academically. Also, they could help the students when they
were upset, having a difficult time with friends or the other things that were going on in their
busy lives. They felt it was important to know and understand their interests, hobbies, and
what was important to them so that a teacher could treat them with kindness and respect.
Teachers who know their students as unique individuals can help them to navigate the often
confusing and anxiety filled lives that they lead.

2. What other steps do you think Mark should take to help his effectiveness as a
teacher?

Mark can plan to make his course even better by taking a few simple steps and make his
classroom experiences more effective for student learning. So, he can encourage active
and practical learning by making connections to real-world applications of the course
material, provide for hands-on activities (active learning) over straight lecturing,
Facilitate in-class discussion groups and group work. Also, provide opportunities for
students to be a mentor and to function as a peer teacher. He can also Learn students’
names and demonstrate that he cares about their lives, listen to his students’ concerns and
respond appropriately and Spend more time with his students and communicate with
them personally. And finally he can integrate technology in the classroom
because technology can help improve teaching. He can use different applications or
trusted online resources to enhance the traditional ways of teaching and to keep students
more engaged such as videos, games, quizzes in a funny way, etc…

3. How does school culture socialize the young?

Socialization is the process of creating a social self, learning one’s culture and learning
the rules and expectations of the culture.
The school is an artificial institution set up for the purpose of socialization and cultural
transmission. The school can be regarded as a formally constituted community as
opposed to mutual communities. In which, the youngsters spend the major part of their
active hours of the day in school, from morning to and obviously, during this time student
acquires a lot from the teachers and fellow students. Due to this fact the school becomes
an important agent of socialization.
Schools socialize children by teaching them their formal curriculum, but also a hidden
curriculum. The formal curriculum is the “three Rs”: reading, writing, and arithmetic. But
there is also a hidden curriculum that schools impart, and that is the cultural values of the
society in which the schools are found. Moreover, the school help the young to get along
with others, responsible for inculcating knowledge and skills, which prepare them for
adulthood and becomes productive and effective citizens of the country.
And last not least, the school consists of the administration, teachers, students. So, all the
team is from different backgrounds especially the peers that are more connected to others
in and out the school, so they may affect each other in a positive or negative ways
depending on them. What I mean is that the peer group afford young people many
significant learning experiences, and the peer culture frequently works against academic
goals at school.
