SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY PROJECT

(SRP) GUIDELINES

INTRODUCTION
The M.B.A department of ABBS strives to hone the students in acquiring social responsibility
acumen. In order to sensitise students in this the department has introduced SRP (Socially
Responsibility Project) which requires every student to study a ‘Social Cause’ gripping the society
and thereby understand it, and propose sustainable solution or even come up with business plans
which act as a solution to the social cause. Every student is required to do SRP as a partial
fulfillment of the course during Second Semester.

OBJECTIVES
The objectives of the SRP are:
a. To sensitize students towards social responsibility.
b. To facilitate students to explore sustainable solutions for the social problems.
c. To hone the Student’s ability to collect, analyze, interpret and synthesize information/data.
d. To motivate students to ‘develop’ business plan to address social problems.

PROCEDURE
 Choose a ‘Social Problem’ of your interest and discuss the same about the feasibility with
the allocated guide.
 Have an Activity shortlisted to work on the chosen area.
 Prepare Problem Statements which you intend to study, Objectives of the study,
Methodology of the study and the Activity you plan to work on.
 Collect data about the current scenario on what is happening in the community about the
cause. Study about Private and Public organizations working on the cause.
 Identify the causes, probable solutions, sustainable business opportunities therefrom.
 Submit synopsis based on research done. Primary data collected, analyzed and presented
in synopsis will be given more weightage.
 Implement the activity, make videos and take photographs.
 Note the learnings from the above activity.
 Deliberate on Scope of Corporate and Government involvement in the chosen area. (To be
documented in Corporate Connect Chapter)
 Prepare report and submit.

 As part of the project, students are required to create a five – seven minute VIDEO of the
work done (Project and Activity) and upload the same on YouTube Link of ABBS.

STRUCTURE OF THE PROJECT REPORT


 Understanding the social problem.
 Discuss about various organizations (Private and Public) working in this area.
o How they are creating awareness in the society?
o How do they plan their activities?
o How do they carry out their mission of working for a social cause?
o What are the resources required and how do they try to meet this requirement?
o What are the challenges being faced by them? Etc.
 Clear planning of your activity which is intended to overcome the social problem.
 Detail write up about the social cause. Include solutions and business opportunities.
 The project work can contain tables, charts, photos etc. to make it more interesting.

POINTS TO REMEMBER
 Select a social cause which has impact on the society and requires solution.
 Study and identify the causes
 Strive to find sustainable solutions/business opportunities
 Present the same in a report form.

GUIDELINES FOR PRINTING


 Avoid grammatical errors.
 The report should be submitted in MS-Word document only.
 Important to include Bibliography.
 The synopsis should be 7~10 pages
 Report should be between 60~70 pages (excluding Annexure)

GUIDELINES FOR CREATING THE VIDEO
 Capture the cause or the activity in action and its importance.
 Ideal flow in the video clip:

 Student has to submit one video and not many clips. Animation, PPT, voice, music etc. can
be added at relevant places to make it interesting.
 Do not use video clips from the website of NGO as it is violation of copy rights.

SUBMISSION
The students are required to submit;
1. One Hardcopy of the project report.
2. Soft copy of the project report and Video clip in a CD.

REJECTION OF PROJECT
 In case of a student failing to submit the project report in time, he/she is not eligible to
get course completion certificate.
 The student then has to redo the project and make a new video clip in the next semester.

IMPORTANT DATES
Finalization of Topic: 26th July, 2021. (Annexure I)
Synopsis Submission: 2nd August, 2021(Annexure II)
Synopsis Presentation: 10th August, 2021.
Interim Reports: Fortnightly. (Annexure III)
Last Date for project submission: 22nd September, 2021
Viva Voce: 30th September, 2021

PRESENTATION OF THE REPORT:
a. Typing should be done on one side of the A-4 size paper.
b. The left side margin should be 1.75 inches, the right, top and bottom margin should be 1 inch
each.
c. Font size: Chapter heading: 18; Sub-heading: 14 and text of the running matter: 12.
d. Fonts to be used are Times New Roman.
e. The text of the project should have 1.5 line spacing; quotations and foot notes should be in
single-line space.
f. Chapter heading should be capitalized and should be kept at center.
g. Tables, graphs and diagrams should have respective number, captions and source.
h. The body of the report must not be less than 60 pages.
i. All pages in main text should carry the Arabic numerals placed on the bottom at the centre. The
Title page, Acknowledgement, Table of contents etc. should be numbered in lower case Roman
numerals.
j The numbering of chapters, divisions and sub-divisions should be done, using Arabic numerals
only. For example, sub-division 2 under division 4 of chapter 3 should be numbered as 3.4.2.
k. Table and Figures appearing in the main text should have appropriate numbers and captions.
The third table in Chapter Two, the number of Table should be assigned as 2.3. Tables and Figures
should appear at the centre.
