Textile designing

Textile designing is an art of creating designs for knitted, woven, and non-woven fabrics. It also
involves embellishments in fabrics. Textile designing involves both surface design, and
structural design of a fabric. A sound knowledge of yarns, weaving, knitting, dyeing and other
finishing processes is required. Textile designers drive the process of creating designs for
knitted, woven, and mixed fabrics. Designers require producing designs, keeping in mind the
type of fabric and its use. The designs can be for a body or a certain space.

Basic Process Of textile Designing

A textile manufacturing process involves the production or conversion of textile fiber through a
defined process in a product. The core aspect of textile designing involves designing the fabric
by using different techniques such as printing, weaving, tracing embroidery, and color detailing.
Once the process is conceptualized, virtual samples are created, and later on prototypes are
executed.

Use Of Software For Developing Various Design

Dobby, or dobbie, is a woven fabric produced on the dobby loom, characterised by small geometric
patterns and extra texture in the cloth. ... Dobby usually features a simple, repeated geometric pattern.
Polo shirts are usually made with dobby. Piqué fabrics are a type of dobby construction.

History of textile
The history of textile design goes back thousands of years. As far as historians can tell the first
use of woven textiles, rather than just animal hides, dates back roughly 100,000 years.
Discovered in a Neolithic site in Anatolia, these surviving examples of textiles are believed to
date from 6500 BC. By the 14th century, technological advances in processes like dyeing
opened up new markets for textiles in Europe. Methods invented in one part of the world
became popular in others. For example, a type of weaving that produces monochromatic
(or one-color) designs visible through sheen and reflection, originated in China. But in the
14th century, producing high-quality damasks became a specialty in Italy.

Software CAD uses in Textile Design

Many textile and fashion designers now use CAD/CAM software. The designer might begin by
hand-drawing a few sketches of their garment. Then, they scan the images into a computer and
begin using CAD. textile designers and fashion designers use CAD to revise drafts and
design finished products. There are CAD for different uses, like creating knitted patterns or
embroidery designs. The CAD allows a designer to manipulate and change design elements
without having to redraw a draft every time.
