4.1‌‌Digital‌‌Equity‌‌-‌m
‌ odel‌‌and‌‌promote‌‌strategies‌‌for‌‌achieving‌‌equitable‌‌access‌‌to‌‌digital‌‌tools‌‌and‌‌
resources‌‌and‌‌technology-related‌‌best‌‌practices‌‌for‌‌all‌‌students‌‌and‌‌teachers.‌‌

Briefly‌‌describe‌‌the‌‌artifact‌‌and‌‌the‌‌context‌‌in‌‌which‌‌it‌‌was‌‌created.‌‌What‌‌was‌‌your‌‌individual‌‌
contribution(s)?‌‌   ‌
The‌‌SWOT‌‌analysis‌‌I‌‌developed‌‌for‌‌Pepperell‌‌Middle‌‌allowed‌‌me‌‌to‌‌gain‌‌a‌‌better‌‌insight‌‌to‌‌how‌‌

technology‌‌is‌‌currently‌‌being‌‌used‌‌in‌‌the‌‌school,‌‌what‌‌expectations‌‌are‌‌currently‌‌in‌‌place,‌‌what‌‌type‌‌

of‌‌access‌‌is‌‌available,‌‌and‌‌how‌‌knowledgeable‌‌staff‌‌and‌‌students‌‌are‌‌with‌‌using‌‌technology‌‌for‌‌

learning.‌‌The‌‌completion‌‌of‌‌this‌‌artifact‌‌required‌‌me‌‌to‌‌understand‌‌the‌‌strength‌‌and‌‌weaknesses‌‌for‌‌

each‌‌essential‌‌condition,‌‌but‌‌also‌‌to‌‌use‌‌the‌‌knowledge‌‌and‌‌skills‌‌I‌‌have‌‌as‌‌an‌‌instructional‌‌

technology‌‌leader‌‌to‌‌share‌‌opportunities‌‌and‌‌threats‌‌within‌‌the‌‌current‌‌reality‌‌as‌‌well‌‌as‌‌

recommendations‌‌for‌‌improvement.‌‌In‌‌some‌‌ways,‌‌Pepperell‌‌Middle‌‌excels‌‌at‌‌meeting‌‌the‌‌essential‌‌

conditions,‌‌but‌‌in‌‌others‌‌there‌‌was‌‌quite‌‌a‌‌bit‌‌of‌‌room‌‌for‌‌improvement‌‌which‌‌required‌‌me‌‌to‌‌be‌‌

creative‌‌in‌‌the‌‌recommendations‌‌I‌‌provided.‌‌To‌‌ensure‌‌I‌‌was‌‌getting‌‌the‌‌full‌‌picture,‌‌I‌‌had‌‌to‌‌do‌‌a ‌‌

great‌‌deal‌‌of‌‌research‌‌and‌‌have‌‌discussions‌‌with‌‌administrators,‌‌teachers,‌‌and‌‌district‌‌leaders.‌‌   ‌

 ‌
 ‌
Explain‌‌how‌‌this‌‌artifact‌‌demonstrates‌‌mastery‌‌of‌‌the‌‌standard/element‌‌under‌‌which‌‌it‌‌is‌‌placed.‌‌   ‌
By‌‌researching‌‌and‌‌developing‌‌the‌‌SWOT‌‌analysis,‌‌I‌‌was‌‌able‌‌to‌‌demonstrate‌‌my‌‌ability‌‌

to‌m
‌ odel‌‌and‌‌promote‌‌‌strategies‌‌for‌‌achieving‌‌equitable‌‌access‌‌to‌d
‌ igital‌‌tools‌‌and‌‌resources.‌‌

Currently,‌‌Pepperell‌‌Middle‌‌and‌‌Floyd‌‌County‌‌Schools‌‌provide‌‌1:1‌‌access‌‌to‌‌Chromebooks‌‌for‌‌

students‌‌to‌‌use‌‌both‌‌in‌‌the‌‌classroom‌‌and‌‌from‌‌home.‌‌For‌‌those‌‌without‌‌internet‌‌access‌‌at‌‌

home,‌‌hot‌‌spots‌‌may‌‌be‌‌provided.‌‌In‌‌this‌‌analysis,‌‌I‌‌explain‌‌opportunities‌‌for‌‌growth‌‌and‌‌

recommendations‌‌to‌‌better‌‌meet‌‌the‌‌needs‌‌of‌‌all‌‌students‌‌and‌p
‌ romote‌‌‌strategies‌‌for‌‌achieving‌‌

equitable‌‌access‌‌to‌t‌ echnology-related‌‌best‌‌practices‌‌‌for‌‌all‌‌students‌‌and‌‌teachers.‌‌A‌‌few‌‌

examples‌‌of‌‌this‌‌include‌‌developing‌‌projects,‌‌lessons,‌‌and‌‌homework‌‌that‌‌will‌‌be‌‌completed‌‌

from‌‌home‌‌with‌‌bad‌‌access‌‌in‌‌mind‌‌and‌‌providing‌‌alternate‌‌assignments‌‌or‌‌time‌‌during‌‌the‌‌

school‌‌day‌‌for‌‌students‌‌to‌‌have‌‌the‌‌opportunity‌‌to‌‌complete‌‌assignments.‌  ‌

What‌‌did‌‌you‌‌learn‌‌from‌‌completing‌‌this‌‌artifact?‌‌What‌‌would‌‌you‌‌do‌‌differently‌‌to‌‌improve‌‌the‌‌
quality‌‌of‌‌the‌‌artifact‌‌or‌‌the‌‌process‌‌involved‌‌in‌‌creating‌‌the‌‌artifact?‌‌(Not‌‌changing‌‌anything‌‌is‌n ‌ ot‌‌
an‌‌acceptable‌‌response.)‌  ‌
By‌‌completing‌‌this‌‌artifact,‌‌I‌‌learned‌‌how‌‌to‌‌provide‌‌better‌‌access‌‌to‌‌digital‌‌tools‌‌and‌‌

resources‌‌for‌‌all‌‌students.‌‌Although‌‌I‌‌previously‌‌felt‌‌like‌‌my‌‌school‌‌and‌‌system‌‌did‌‌a‌‌good‌‌job‌‌at‌‌

promoting‌‌digital‌‌equity,‌‌completing‌‌this‌‌assignment‌‌helped‌‌me‌‌better‌‌understand‌‌areas‌‌where‌‌

we‌‌can‌‌grow‌‌in‌‌providing‌‌students‌‌equal‌‌access‌‌and‌‌how‌‌this‌‌can‌‌be‌‌done.‌‌To‌‌improve‌‌the‌‌

quality‌‌of‌‌this‌‌artifact,‌‌I‌‌would‌‌meet‌‌with‌‌the‌‌head‌‌of‌‌the‌‌district‌‌technology‌‌department‌‌to‌‌

collaborate‌‌on‌‌how‌‌to‌‌meet‌‌these‌‌goals,‌‌what‌‌is‌‌currently‌‌being‌‌done‌‌to‌‌make‌‌improvements,‌‌

and‌‌budget‌‌for‌‌supplying‌‌more‌‌hot‌‌spots‌‌to‌‌students‌‌in‌‌need.‌‌   ‌

How‌‌did‌‌the‌‌work‌‌that‌‌went‌‌into‌‌creating‌‌this‌‌artifact‌‌impact‌‌school‌‌improvement,‌‌faculty‌‌
development,‌‌or‌‌student‌‌learning?‌‌How‌‌can‌‌this‌‌impact‌‌be‌‌assessed?‌  ‌
The‌‌work‌‌that‌‌went‌‌into‌‌creating‌‌this‌‌artifact‌‌will‌‌have‌‌an‌‌impact‌‌on‌‌both‌‌school‌‌

improvement‌‌and‌‌student‌‌learning.‌‌By‌‌providing‌‌better‌‌access‌‌to‌‌all‌‌students,‌‌they‌‌are‌‌given‌‌a ‌‌

chance‌‌to‌‌enhance‌‌their‌‌learning,‌‌grow‌‌in‌‌their‌‌understanding,‌‌and‌‌achieve‌‌at‌‌higher‌‌rates.‌‌

Ensuring‌‌equal‌‌access‌‌for‌‌all‌‌students‌‌expands‌‌the‌‌opportunities‌‌for‌‌learning,‌‌thus‌‌impacting‌‌

school‌‌improvement.‌  ‌
