During‌‌my‌‌time‌‌in‌‌the‌‌Instructional‌‌Technology‌‌program‌‌at‌‌Kennesaw‌‌State‌‌University,‌‌I ‌‌

have‌‌been‌‌provided‌‌many‌‌opportunities‌‌to‌‌grow‌‌in‌‌my‌‌knowledge‌‌and‌‌skills‌‌of‌‌technology-based‌‌ 

learning‌‌experiences‌‌for‌‌students.‌‌Some‌‌of‌‌these‌‌professional‌‌learning‌‌opportunities‌‌include‌‌ 

virtual‌‌tv‌‌and‌‌SmartBoard‌‌training‌‌where‌‌I‌‌learned‌‌to‌‌use‌‌these‌‌tools‌‌to‌‌provide‌‌my‌‌students‌‌ 

with‌‌opportunities‌‌to‌‌use‌‌them‌‌to‌‌participate,‌‌take‌‌ownership‌‌of‌‌their‌‌learning,‌‌and‌‌share‌‌their‌‌ 

learning‌‌more‌‌effectively.‌‌One‌‌of‌‌the‌‌most‌‌impactful‌‌professional‌‌development‌‌sessions‌‌I ‌‌

participated‌‌in‌‌was‌‌learning‌‌how‌‌to‌‌use‌‌virtual‌‌and‌‌augmented‌‌reality‌‌with‌‌students.‌‌This‌‌

Completing‌‌this‌‌artifact‌‌allowed‌‌me‌‌to‌‌grow‌‌in‌‌my‌‌practice‌‌as‌‌both‌‌a‌‌teacher‌‌and‌‌ 

instructional‌‌technology‌‌coach.‌‌The‌‌amount‌‌of‌‌new‌‌knowledge‌‌and‌‌skills‌‌I‌‌gained‌‌during‌‌the‌‌ 

virtual‌‌and‌‌augmented‌‌reality‌‌professional‌‌learning‌‌guided‌‌me‌‌toward‌‌using‌‌this‌‌type‌‌of‌‌ 

technology‌‌as‌‌my‌‌capstone.‌‌To‌‌improve‌‌the‌‌process‌‌of‌‌participating‌‌in‌‌these‌‌professional‌‌ 

learning‌‌opportunities,‌‌I‌‌would‌‌have‌‌come‌‌prepared‌‌with‌‌background‌‌knowledge‌‌and‌‌specific‌‌ 

questions‌‌I‌‌wanted‌‌to‌‌have‌‌answered.‌‌After‌‌the‌‌professional‌‌development‌‌I‌‌completed,‌‌I‌‌was‌‌ 

able‌‌to‌‌reach‌‌out‌‌to‌‌the‌‌host‌‌of‌‌the‌‌sessions‌‌to‌‌have‌‌questions‌‌answered,‌‌but‌‌I‌‌think‌‌it‌‌would‌‌ 

have‌‌made‌‌a‌‌greater‌‌impact‌‌to‌‌be‌‌able‌‌to‌‌discuss‌‌the‌‌questions‌‌and‌‌answers‌‌in‌‌person‌‌rather‌‌ 

than‌‌through‌‌email.‌  ‌

How‌‌did‌‌the‌‌work‌‌that‌‌went‌‌into‌‌creating‌‌this‌‌artifact‌‌impact‌‌school‌‌improvement,‌‌faculty‌‌ 
development,‌‌or‌‌student‌‌learning?‌‌How‌‌can‌‌this‌‌impact‌‌be‌‌assessed?‌  ‌
The‌‌professional‌‌learning‌‌that‌‌took‌‌place‌‌in‌‌the‌‌sessions‌‌I‌‌attended‌‌impacted‌‌faculty‌‌ 

development‌‌and‌‌student‌‌learning.‌‌I‌‌became‌‌so‌‌excited‌‌about‌‌the‌‌opportunities‌‌virtual‌‌reality‌‌ 

learning‌‌experiences‌‌could‌‌provide‌‌for‌‌my‌‌students‌‌that‌‌I‌‌wanted‌‌to‌‌share‌‌it‌‌with‌‌others.‌‌This‌‌ 

prompted‌‌my‌‌capstone‌‌proposal,‌‌which‌‌turned‌‌into‌‌the‌‌yearlong‌‌capstone‌‌project‌‌I ‌‌

implemented.‌‌What‌‌I‌‌learned‌‌in‌‌the‌‌virtual‌‌and‌‌augmented‌‌reality‌‌professional‌‌development‌‌ 

guided‌‌me‌‌as‌‌I‌‌coached‌‌science‌‌teachers‌‌in‌‌my‌‌school‌‌to‌‌implement‌‌this‌‌new‌‌technology‌‌and‌‌ 

created‌‌hands-on‌‌learning‌‌experiences‌‌for‌‌all‌‌students.‌‌Student‌‌learning‌‌was‌‌positively‌‌impacted‌‌ 

through‌‌the‌‌use‌‌of‌‌the‌‌virtual‌‌reality‌‌experiences‌‌we‌‌were‌‌able‌‌to‌‌provide.‌   ‌ ‌
