Report Site inspection of OHGW installation for 22 kV Distribution line

Powerhouse to TBM Surge Shaft and Power Intake

Date: 23/04/2020

Attendee:

1. EPC Electrical Team (and OHW EPC Subcontractor) + 3 Workers

2. CSC- Mr. Nattawut civil and general engineer

3. PNPC- TL, S/S Electrical Engineer (Mr. Thongliane)

Scope of inspection:

1. Visually check and inspection of 22kV OHGW installation and OHGW Grounding tested

2. And also including to re checking the punch list (22 kV LA rectification of ground wire and LA
grounding re-testing.

Conclusion of Inspection:

- 22 kV OHGW installation from V/C line to Power intake is completed, the ground resistances are
in accepted value of 18.00 Ohm as EPC Subcontract has installed 75 points of down lead
conductor along the poles to the Earth (each 5 poles OHGW leaded one grounding) But from
previous punch list of inspection dated 20 March 2020 EPC must be re improved again on 22 KV
LA explosion by lightning storm into the line until OHGW is installed and protecting covered and
also during of inspection dated 23th April 2020 the downlead conductor was disconnected to
the earth as following location:

➢ Pole 282- to be removed or replace LA explosion, if replace LA system then the down
lead conductor to be connected to OHGW system (see my comment as note below).

➢ At each LA pole locations from line VC to PI should be improve and to replace earth
wires (do not do only replace of LA units only in punch list but earth wire shall be
replaced too)

➢ If refer to PTS Section 11 (3.9.5)-230 &500 kV TL or also we can refer to as 22 kV OHGW

ground wires connection too, from this time we found there are some connection of
OHGW to the earth shall be to rectify (Poor connection, please recheck again)

- Note: As an external ground is attached along the concrete pole connected between the OHGW
and ground rod. It can help reduce the resistance of the ground rod and the surge impedance of
the pole; this method gives a reduction in voltage across the insulator units as well as back
flashover rate (BFOR).
