2. BASIS OF PURCHASE

2.1 Steam Drum Sizing and Design

2.1.1 Steam drums shall be sized for the design operating conditions given on the Steam Drum Data Sheets.
Supplier is to specify diameter, overall length, and internal details of each drum as part of his proposal. The
level of detail shall be sufficient to allow Purchaser to perform an analytical performance evaluation of the
proposed design.

2.1.2 The proposed design should include suggested arrangement and location of risers and downcomers to
obtain optimum performance of the drum. This information will be used as a guide in determining the exact
location of these nozzles. The Supplier may make comments and recommendations to Purchaser riser and
downcomer locations necessary for him to meet steam purity guarantees.

2.1.3 Unless otherwise specified on data sheets/drawings, the steam drum shall be designed, fabricated,
tested, and inspected in accordance with ASME Section VIII. ASME code stamping is not required, however,
Supplier shall quote separately the cost for third-party inspection. ASME code stamping is acceptable in lieu of
third-party inspection. In the case of third-party inspection, forms similar to those described as "Manufacturer's
Data Report" in the ASME Code, shall be completed and signed by the fabricator and third-party inspection
agency.

2.1.4 Supplier shall design, furnish, and install support saddles and lifting lugs for the steam drums.

2.1.5 Supplier shall supply a nameplate in accordance with the requirements of ASME Code.

2.2 Quotation Requirements

2.2.1 The quotation is to be based on a design using cyclones as the primary water/steam separation device.
Alternate designs using other types of internals may be submitted for Purchaser's review. The Bidder shall
provide the following information as part of his alternate design proposal. All alternate designs must be based
on equipment with a minimum of two years successful operation in a similar service.

a. Client's name
b. Load conditions
c. Quoted performance guarantees
d. Actual performance test results (if available)
e. Summary of problems encountered with Steam Drum design and down stream equipment (i.e. turbines,
etc.) with remedial steps or solutions provided.

The level of technical detail must be such that Purchaser can analytically compare the previous referenced
designs to the proposed design.

2.2.2 Supplier is to supply the following information with his quotation:

a. A tabulation of pressures at riser inlets, maximum liquid level, and vapor outlet for maximum and normal
operation. Also include a tabulation of pressure drops through each group of internals (i.e. cyclones,
screens, nozzles, etc.) and the overall pressure drop for each operating case.

b. Maximum, minimum, and normal liquid levels.

c. A recommended procedure for startup and shutdown.

d. An itemized account of cost for, and extent of, field inspection required by Supplier. The cost of field
inspection if requested by Purchaser.

e. The cost of having a representative of the Supplier present during startup, and whether or not the Supplier
requires the presence of such a representative.

f. Recommended spare parts for two (2) years of maintenance.

g. Unit prices for nozzle sizes NPS 3/4 through NPS 12 and manways for possible additions or deletions.

3. PERFORMANCE

3.1 General

3.1.1 Detailed flowrate information per nozzle is provided in the Steam Drum Data Sheet for design and normal
operating rates.

3.1.2 There is to be no vapor entrainment to the downcomers.

3.1.3 The Supplier shall provide a written guarantee for the performance of the drum and the quality of steam at
design flows. Effluent steam is to be guaranteed at 99.9 percent minimum quality at design operating
conditions. Quality is to be measured by a sodium flame test (for boiler solids concentration less than 100 ppm).
The Supplier is required to submit a test procedure for review and acceptance by KBR.

3.1.4 The design proposed by the Supplier shall contain sufficient useable liquid volume to provide the water
holding time specified on the Steam Drum Data Sheet. The holding time is to be based on the maximum steam
generation plus continuous blowdown assuming no BFW makeup. Useable liquid volume is to be measured
between the maximum liquid level and the level above the downcomer standpipe which will flow the required
quantity of water without flashing.

4. MECHANICAL DESIGN AND FABRICATION

4.1 Specifications

The design, materials, shop fabrication, testing, and shipping of pressure vessels shall be in accordance with
KBR Technical Specification MD40-1F and the design data specified on the Steam Drum Data Sheet.

4.2 Nozzles and Connections

4.2.1 All nozzles shall be beveled for welding to matching pipe as specified on KBR data sheets/drawings.

4.2.2 All downcomer nozzles shall be provided with a 4 inch (100 mm) high standpipe with anti-swirl baffle.

4.2.3 "Flued in" type manways shall be oval.
