FLOORING

TERRAZZO
• Composite material.
• Cement+Aggregates
(marble, quartz, granite,
glass).
• Available in different
colours by using
different shades of
marble or cement.
INSTALLATION
• Terrazzo mix -1:3
(cement : marble chips)
• First mixed in dry conditions and suitable
mount of water is added to obtain a plastic
mixture.
• The mixture is laid on a rough base with zig
zag lines made using metal strips.
• Well watered for 7 days atleast
• Polishing done after 3 days in 2 stages-
I. Coarse Carborundum stone.
II. Finely Grained Carborundum stone.
• Wax is applied for glossy look.
• THICKNESS – 20mm.
• For one square meter of terrazzo flooring, 300 N of marble chips and ¼ of a
bag of cement is required.
• Used for residential building, bathrooms, cloakrooms, hotels, breweries etc.
• ADVANTAGES
 Aesthetic- unique, specific designs can be easily moulded to obtain the
desired appearance.
 Durability- highly durable.
 Easy maintenance.
• DISADVANTAGES
 Initial cost is very high comparitively.
 The installation process is very long and requires skilled labour
 Causes discomfort during the winters.
