INSTALLATION • Terrazzo mix -1:3 (cement : marble chips) • First mixed in dry conditions and suitable mount of water is added to obtain a plastic mixture. • The mixture is laid on a rough base with zig zag lines made using metal strips. • Well watered for 7 days atleast • Polishing done after 3 days in 2 stages- I. Coarse Carborundum stone. II. Finely Grained Carborundum stone. • Wax is applied for glossy look. • THICKNESS – 20mm. • For one square meter of terrazzo flooring, 300 N of marble chips and ¼ of a bag of cement is required. • Used for residential building, bathrooms, cloakrooms, hotels, breweries etc. • ADVANTAGES Aesthetic- unique, specific designs can be easily moulded to obtain the desired appearance. Durability- highly durable. Easy maintenance. • DISADVANTAGES Initial cost is very high comparitively.
