1. A parallel combination of two cells of Emf's E1 and E2, and internal resistance r1, and r2, is used to supply current
to a load of resistance R. Write the expression for the current through the load in terms of E 1, E2, r1 and r2.
2. Draw a graph to show the variation of resistance of a metal wire as a function of its diameter, keeping length and
temperature constant.
3. Mention the colour coding for a 250-ohm resistor.
4. A potentiometer wire AB of length 4m and of resistance 10 ohm is connected in series with a resistor of 40 ohm to
a 100 volt power supply. An unknown cell E1 gives a balance length of 250 cms while if E1 and E2 are connected
in series, the balance length is 320cms. Find the emf of E1 and E2.
5. In a meter bridge experiment, a fixed resistance of 10ohms is used. The balance length obtained while finding an
unknown resistance is 40cm. Find the unknown resistance.
6. Calculate the temperature at which the resistance of a conductor becomes 20% more than its resistance at 27°C.

The value of the temperature coefficient of resistance of the conductor is 2. 0×10−4 / K .

7. Six resistors, each of value 4 Ω, are joined together in a circuit as shown in the diagram. Calculate equivalent
resistance across the points A and B. If a cell of e.m.f. 2v is connected across AB, Compute the current through the
arms AB and DF of circuit.

8. Four cells of identical emf E, internal resistance r, are connected in series to a variable resistor. The following
graph shows the variation of terminal voltage of the combination with the current output voltage of the
combination with the current output.

i. What is the e.m.f. of each cell used?

ii. For what current from the cells, does maximum power dissipation occur in the circuit?
iii. Calculate the internal resistance of each cell.
9. What is a potentiometer. Explain its principle of working. Using a suitable circuit diagram, explain how it can be
used to find the internal resistance of a cell. Derive the necessary formula.
