Waves Quiz #2

Let’s analyze your quiz . . . . TURN INTO WWW.TURNITIN.COM! Info for taking the Bonus Questions is at the end.
1. Let’s learn from the Free Response Test. Attach another sheet if necessary.
Question Correct answer + Work. Explain where you went wrong
# Show your work or thought process and include any
diagrams/graphs.

3 It’s a virtual image but those don’t show up on screens Didn’t explain why stuff wasn’t seen

4 1/do + 1/di = /1f, 1/-.15 +1/do = 1/.05, 1/do = 1/.05+1/.15, do = Mixed up di and do, forgot that this was virtual
0.0375. m = di/do, m = -.15/.0375 = -4

5 Didn’t use ray tracing, I just used math

Focal length 10 cm

6 The narrower the slit, the more focused and coherent the light, I forgot about huygen’s
meaning that the light stuff basically all lines up and is in phase.
Then we have huygen’s principle, which states that the smaller the
slits, the more drastic/circular the diffraction, and we’re trying to
observe interference so we want the diffraction as drastic and clear
as possible.

9 Dsin(theta) = mlambda. Assuming m = 1, tan(theta) = (0.3*10^- Used some of the wrong numbers, 1e-3 instead of .3e-3, .3e-3
3)/1.75 = 0.000171428571. arctan(0.000171428571) = instead of 2e-3
0.00017142856 = theta
Sin(0.00017142856) = 0.00017142855
d = 2*10^-3.
2*10^-3* 0.00017142855 = 3.42857118e-7 meters

12 We'd have the same equation (sintheta = mlambda), and m I just was bad honestly
wouldn’t change, so the location would still basically be the same

13 I was doing it for the single slit instead of double slit
