Meet Your Teacher

Hi! My name is Kaulu Stevens and I am SO excited to be your child’s fifth grade teacher. This is my fifteenth
year teaching and my seventh year at Ho’okele Elementary.

I was born and raised in Aiea, Hawaii, and am the youngest of three kids. I received my Bachelors of
Elementary Education from The University of Hawaii at Manoa. I have previously taught at Pearl Ridge and
Kanoelani Elementary Schools.

I have one daughter who recently graduated from Washington State University (Go Cougs!) and is now
playing soccer professionally in the NWSL for the Houston Dash. I have a nephew/bonus son whom I
love going on adventures around the island with! He will be entering the fifth grade here at Ho’okele. I
enjoy traveling, especially to Disneyland & Disney World, going on hikes around the island, and relaxing
at the beach. My family is my everything and Game Nights are one of our favorite pastimes.

Classroom Expectations
In fifth grade, one of my primary goals is to prepare students for the ever changing and ever growing
future. I have high expectations for all of my students and I will work diligently to hold all students
accountable.
Come to school on time (class will begin at 7:50. If you are not present before the door closes, you will be
marked absent/tardy).
Come to school prepared. You should have: all assignments completed, necessary school supplies, and a
positive attitude.
Keep your work organized using your planner & AVID Binder.
- Your planner will be used to document all of your homework, assignment due dates, and dates to
remember.
- Your AVID binder will be used to file your homework, your class work, and your notes. It’s very
important that you have both planner and binder in school every day
Complete and turn in all assignments—classwork and homework—on time.
- Homework is your chance to practice what we learn in class and outside of class.
- Classwork allows Miss Stevens to view your progress and to help you gain more
knowledge for the next grade level.
Put effort into all of your assignments (Write neatly, show your work when needed,
incorporate details, and DOUBLE check your writing and/or your calculations).
NO SHARING SNACKS IN SCHOOL
- Because students may have unknown allergies, students are not allowed to share
with one another. This rule is also enforced to keep all students as healthy as
possible. Remember, when we share snacks, we share GERMS!
Lunches and Snacks MUST be peanut-free.
