Course Description

This course deals with mechanics, heat, sound, thermodynamics, electricity and magnetism. It discusses the
fundamental concepts and principles in mechanics, with emphasis on linear and two – dimensional kinematics,
Newton’s laws of motion, energy and momentum, harmonic motion, fluid mechanics, and their applications,
thermal expansion, thermal stress, heat transfer, calorimetry, laws of thermodynamics, wave motion,
electrostatics, the nature and interaction among electrical charges, the concept of electric field and electric
energy, and the application of the methods and concepts of algebra, trigonometry, graphical analysis, and
basic calculus.

Course Learning Outcomes

CLO1: Use algebra, trigonometry, and calculus in resolving vector properties that are associated in analyzing
Bodies of Motion.
CLO2: To explain the nature of rotating bodies under influence of gravity and to predict the outcome in
colliding bodies by applying laws of conservation in energy and momentum.
CLO3: To identify the properties of fluids and solve related problems concerning its responds to heat and its
role in heat transfer.
CLO4: Define electric charge, static electricity and current electricity and the coexistence of electricity and
magnetism
