Speak Your Mind

Sony chose the Royal Academy of Art in London to launch its latest range of devices, and for a company that’s
always been heavily design led, it was a pretty apt choice of venue. As if to justify the surroundings, Sony had
some pretty stunning looking products on show.

The showstopper was the VAIO Type U. This little beauty has been available in Japan for a little while, and it’s
still not clear whether it will ever make its way to Europe. On that point, we’re willing to beg Sony to launch this
device over here, because it really is amazing.

The VAIO VGN-U70 sits snugly in the hand.

The VAIO VGN-U70 measures only 167 x 108 x 26.4mm (WxHxD) and weighs a feather-light 550g, but despite
its miniature stature, there is a fully working PC inside. Yep, that’s right, the VGN-U70 is not a Pocket PC or
PalmOS device, it’s a mobile PC running Windows XP Pro.
The Windows XP Pro badge shows the sceptical that this is a real PC.

The specification is quite healthy, and not that much different from what you’d find in an ultra-portable notebook.
There’s an Intel Pentium M CPU ticking along at 1GHz, while 512MB of memory will allow you to run pretty much
any Windows application without issue. There’s a 20GB hard disk and 64MB of video memory for the integrated
Intel graphics.
Intel inside – The Pentium M branding hints at the power of this handheld PC.

The 5in TFT screen is truly excellent and with a resolution of 800 x 600, you can fit a surprising amount of data
on it. It is of course touch sensitive, so you can navigate the VGN-U70 using a stylus or even your finger tip. If
you don’t want to tap the screen, there’s a TrackPoint-like nib to the right of the screen that will move the mouse
pointer with a reassuring degree of accuracy.
You can control the pointer with the nib on the right, using either your finger or thumb, depending on
how you hold the device.

being published if you present your material this way. Each press release should include the following:

story.

City, State/Country - Month These details precede the story and orient the reader.
Day, Year

Body This is where the actual story goes. There should be more than one paragraph,
each paragraph no more than a few sentences. if there is more than one page,
write "-more-" at the bottom of the page.

Company/organisation info Include any background information about the company or organisation featuring
in this press release.

Contact Information Include contact person, company name, phone/fax, email, physical/postal address.

Competition is Healthy Says Lemonade Stand Queen

Hamilton, New Zealand - November 12, 2004 - Increased competition in the local lemonade stand market should
be welcomed, according to the operator of popular lemonade stand "Shelly's Pure Lemonade".

12-year-old Shelly Smith has been selling her home-made brand of lemonade from the footpath in front of her
parents' North Street home for 18 months and has seen the highs and lows of the trade.

"Stands come and go," says Ms Smith, "but when there are more stands around the vendors are more serious.
They try harder and make a better product. That gives our customers confidence and sales go up."

In recent months the number of lemonade stands in North Street has risen from three to five. Experts believe this
trend will continue, with the possibility of two or even three new stands before the end of summer.

Ms Smith feels that a stable supply of lemonade will also benefit the streets' economy.

"People know that if they are thirsty, North Street is the place to come. With plenty of lemonade stands on this
street it doesn't matter if some of the vendors take a day off. The customer is never disappointed so they always
come back."

Shelly Smith is a sole trader of lemonade and occasional cookies. Her stand at 223 North Street is usually open
weekdays after school and weekends, except when she is playing with her friends or watching a movie.

A press release is a written communication that purports to report on an event, circumstance or

occurrence by a third party, and is provided to the news media for the purpose of promotion.

Business, organizational or personal press releases are different from a news article in that a news article
is a compilation of facts developed by journalists and then published as news content within a given media
outlet.

A press release, on the other hand, is designed to be sent to journalists and or media outlets
(newspapers, magazines, broadcasters, etc.) in order to encourage them (the reporter or actual media
outlet) to develop news articles on the subject. A press release is generally biased toward the objectives of
the press release’s author and is most often viewed as raw materials by the media when creating news
content.

Since the advent of the Internet the lines between “news” as compared to a press release are getting
blurred, but the purpose of a press release, within its related format, is to reach out to the media to get
them to report on your particular message, with secondary “direct to readership” benefits associated with
overall Internet based publicity.

Rockwell Collins Helmet Mounted Display Selected For AVCATT

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (August 09, 2009) - The U.S. Army, through the Program Executive Office of
Simulation Training and Instrumentation, has awarded Rockwell Collins a $23.8 million contract for the
Aviation Combined Arms Tactical Trainer (AVCATT) Helmet Mounted Display (HMD) modification and
upgrade program.

"This is a great example of how Rockwell Collins integrates multiple disciplines to provide the best
solutions for our customers," said Ron Hornish, vice president and general manager, Sensor Systems for
Government Systems at Rockwell Collins. "In this case, our expertise in helmet mounted displays and
simulation and training made us the right choice for the AVCATT program."

AVCATT is a mobile, transportable, virtual simulation training system designed to provide Army aviation
with the capability to conduct realistic, high intensity training exercises and mission rehearsals. The
system allows pilots to train and rehearse through networked simulation in a collective and combined arms
simulated battlefield environment.

The contract calls for Rockwell Collins to provide the SimEye SR100A HMD, a more compact, lightweight,
high-resolution upgrade for its already proven SimEye XL100A, which is presently used in AVCATT.

Developed based on feedback from the warfighter, enhancements include higher resolution, upgraded
head tracker technology and reductions in head-borne weight and overall size. The SimEye SR100A HMD
allows pilots to feel as if they are part of an environment as opposed to simply viewing a scene during
training.

Rockwell Collins will be integrating its HMD -- incorporating an integral IS-900 head tracker -- with its EPX-
50 image generator. By optimizing overall system performance of the HMD technology, Rockwell Collins
will ensure the success of the visual displays for the AVCATT trainer.

The work for the AVCATT program, which was awarded under the Rockwell Collins' Simulation, Training
and Instrumentation Command (STRICOM) Omnibus Contract, will be completed in the company's
Carlsbad, Calif. and Orlando, Fla. locations.

Rockwell Collins (NYSE: COL) is a pioneer in the development and deployment of innovative
communication and aviation electronics solutions for both commercial and government applications. Our
expertise in flight deck avionics, cabin electronics, mission communications, information management and
simulation and training is delivered by 19,000 employees, and a global service and support network that
crosses 27 countries. To find out more, please visit www.rockwellcollins.com.

Distribute To The Media

Simply put, the media are paper-bound and online newspapers, magazines, trade publications, as well as television,
cable and radio broadcasters (and let’s not forget blogs and newsletters). These news providers are supported by the
efforts of publishers, editors, journalists and producers.

A press release is a well written news story that informs publishers, editors, journalists and producers about your
business, organization and personal message. The content is presented in a way that carefully places your message as
useable raw material for established and emerging media’s news gathering and reporting efforts.

If you, your business or organization is featured by the media your message gains instant credibility because it is
“newsworthy” as compared to an advertisement that conveys that you purchased the promotion.

Insure that your press release has balance. For example, report on your business and include content about your
overall industry, or report on your personal involvement in an event, but be sure to include the specifics about the event.

Report in the “third person” and if your press release is too “hard sell” it will not gain much traction with the media. Be
informative, while still including your message, then there will be a greater chance for utilization.
