STEPS IN MAKING THE MITER SLED:

Step 1: Cutting the Plywood for the Base

Size of the plywood is 24’’x 36’’. Plywood used in the video is Baltic Birch plywood.
Step 2: Making Hardwood Runners

Step 3: Prepare for Glue-up

To attach the hardwood runners to the main ply, the runners must be raised little able the table saw
and the ply must be placed at an angle of 45o

The runners are raised via keeping a few dimes in the table so the runner is just protruding over the
table top.
Step 4: Glue the Runners to the Base

Step 5: Flush-cutting, Waxing and Testing the Base

Excess protruding runner is cut off from the base using a flush saw

Paste wax is added to the bottom of the sled which makes the sled glide nicer.

Then the blade of the table saw is raised and using the speed square the sled is cut at an angle of 45o

Step 6: Secure the Runners

The hardwood runners are secured using screws.

The blue flap is a masking tape used to as a depth gauge.

Step 7: Cut the Ruler

The ruler is cut at an angle of 45. ‘

Step 8: Cut the Support for the Ruler

1/4" plywood is used here. Anything upto ½” can be used. A support for the ruler is created via this.

Step 9: Attach the Supports to the Base

The supports cut out in the earlier step are attached to the base by marking a 3 ½” line from the two
edges using digital callipers as utmost precision is necessary is this step.

Then a ruler is used as a straight edge and marked with a pencil

Step 10: Attaching the Ruler

Double sided tape is added to the bottom of the ruler and placed on the support. The 45 deg cut is
carefully aligned with the blade and the back of the ruler with the back of the blade. Same is done on
the short edge.
Step 11: Cutting the Back Off the Sled

Step 12: Making the Stop Block - Part 1 - the Bottom

A stop block is a simple reusable jig used in metalworking and woodworking to locate a
common edge of a workpiece so that multiple workpieces can get the same operation
performed quickly.
Step 13: Making the Stop Block - Part 1 - the Middle

Step 14: Making the Stop Block - Part 1 - the Top

Step 15: Making the Stop Block - Part 1 - Assembly

USE: The ultra precise miter sled can be used to easily make repeatable miter cuts. The clear top
on the block makes it easy to line up the measurements and the extension wing supports the work
while cutting it.

The short side of the jig is used to cut the first 45 and then it is transferred to the other side.
