2. (2 pts) An experimentalist, based on his measurements, a heat engine receives 300 kJ

of heat from a source at 227°C, converts 160 kJ of it to work, and rejects the rest as a
waste he at to a sink at 27°C. Are these measurements reasonable? Explain why?

5. (20 pts) Superheated steam at 100 kPa and 150°C is cooled by mixing it with liquid
water at 100 kPa and 20°C . Liquid enters the mixing chamber at a rate of 3 kg/s, and
the chamber is estimated to lose heat to the surroundings at a rate of 800 kJ/min. If the
mixture leaves the mixing chamber at 100 kPa and 50°C, determine
