Goal

To Increase the call volume of the 2-1-1 service in the North Country region.

Objective # 1
To build 2-1-1’s presence in the North Country region; specifically to add 300 emails to
Constant Contact by May 2011.

Strategy #1
Implement an awareness campaign towards SUNY Plattsburgh’s students by utilizing Greek
Life, S.A. Clubs and Athletic Teams as opinion leaders.

Tactics
1. Interpersonal Communication: collect e-mails of the SUNY Plattsburgh students at Relay
for Life, March 25, 2011.
2. Interpersonal Communication: collect e-mails and hand out fliers at athletic games to
SUNY Plattsburgh students.
3. Interpersonal Communication: collect e-mails and hand out fliers to students at African
Unity Made in Africa All White Event at ACC on March 26th.
4. Interpersonal Communication: collect e-mails and hand out fliers to students at Club
Caribbean’s Annual Caribbean Pageant on April 2nd at the Hartman Theater.
5. Interpersonal Communication: collect e-mails and hand out fliers to students at
Organization of Women’s Ethnicity fashion show on April 9th in the Warren Ball Rooms.

Strategy #2
Implement an awareness campaign towards Clinton County residents by utilizing community
groups and organizations.

Tactics
1. Interpersonal Communication: collect e-mails and hand out fliers at local places of
worship within the community.
2. Interpersonal Communication: collect e-mails and hand out fliers at local soup kitchens
and food pantries.
3. Organizational Communication: hold meeting at local places of worship explaining the
benefits and services 2-1-1 has to offer to the community.

Objective # 2
To increase awareness of the 2-1-1 information and referral service in the North Country region;
specifically to educate residents of Clinton County and SUNY Plattsburgh about the services
offered through 2-1-1, resulting in an increase of 1,000 calls by January 2012.
Strategy #1
Create an awareness campaign at SUNY Plattsburgh utilizing on-campus channels to educate
students about 2-1-1.

Tactics

1. News/Media Communication: create posters for the screensaver slideshow that is


displayed in the ACC building and every computer found on campus.

2. Advertisement/Promotional Communication: have Chris Ruiz speak on behalf of 2-1-1 in


a short PSA for PSTV.

3. News/Media Communication: Place the United Way of the North Country’s flyer in
Cardinal Points newspaper.

4. News/Media Communication: interview on SUNY Plattsburgh’s radio station, The


Quake, discussing 2-1-1 and the services it offers to students.

Strategy #2
Implement a Social Media campaign to educate residents of Clinton County about 2-1-1.
Tactics
1. News/Media Communication: update and modify North Country’s 2-1-1 Facebook page,
and connect with Press-Republican homepage.

2. News/Media Communication: using the City of Plattsburgh homepage create a section


under the “Friends of Plattsburgh” tab for a direct link to the 2-1-1 homepage.

3. Advertisement/Promotional Communication: Create a banner on City of Plattsburgh


homepage that scrolls through different fact about the services of 2-1-1. It will be
clickable and bring the user to the North Country 2-1-1 official homepage.
