Example C. Special Right Triangle Theorem

Right Triangles whose angles measure 45 – 45 – 90 or 30 – 60 – 90 are referred to as special right triangles.
The Pythagorean Theorem gives us information about the special right triangles. In the previous module, we
prove that in a 45 – 45 – 90 triangles, or in an isosceles right triangle, the hypotenuse is √2 times as long as
each leg. We proved also that in 30 – 60 – 90 triangles, the hypotenuse is twice as long as the shorter leg, and
the longer leg is √3 times as long as the shorter leg. Let us apply the theorem.
