“CEP is one of the best programs I participated in UQ. It certainly made me more job
ready and ultimately helped me land a job … ”

“Excellent opportunity to apply skills from our degree in a real client setting; I liked
the level of independence we could have, still with the support if we needed it.”

“I have learned a lot here. Really appreciate what we have learned. A very variable
experience, and I will not forget this in my life.”

“CEP has really opened my eyes to what it's like working for a business, and it's made

facets of consulting into each project, but you

Bayside Respite Care Association Inc
Feasibility Study – Future Location of Overnight Respite

Bayside Respite Care Association Inc (BRCAI) aims to provide a flexible service of respite care and
support to families and individuals with a disability and to help maintain their rights, interests,
acceptance and participation in the community.
The volunteer management committee lacks the necessary resources and expertise to fully explore
all options regarding the options pertaining to the future location of an overnight respite care
centre, and the financial and administrative implications of moving or staying. BRCA would like:
- A full feasibility report on all possible options to secure a stable future for the over-night
respite service. (Ideally this report would provide the platform for further meetings with
funding bodies and local councils.)
- A feasibility report on the option of remaining at the current location through either purchase
or continuing rental, including funding options.

Boxer Rescue Network Australia
Document Management System

Boxer Rescue Network Australia (BRNA) is a national registered charity thriving to help as
many boxers in Australia as we can.
The records management system for Boxer Rescue Network Australia (BRNA) has grown and
developed over the years. While the system has been improved recently, the electronic
records / data management still consists of several separate systems (with different processes)
and various software applications. Data entry consumes a lot of time and often the same data
has to be entered into various software platforms.
The goal of this project is to identify potential system(s) which can consolidate the data and
replace the existing fragmented system.

Single holistic view of the customer

Our current data capture and warehousing of customer information is in numerous and varied
platforms. The newly formed Customer Experience Dept is expected to provide customer insights

multiple data sets. We must enable the business to put our customers at the centre, by having
one single holistic database/CRM.
We require a digital strategy to migrate customer data from its current locations to one source. By
having single, holistic view of each customer, we will be able to provide better service and
products to meet their individual needs and help them stay well for longer, retain the customers
we have and have a more engaging and relevant relationship with us.

This project is seeking to develop alternative donation collection mechanisms to increase levels
and yield of quality donations. These mechanisms would be used in multiple locations, for
example: with corporate partners and at community events.
Vinnies is seeking a development plan and diversification suggestions for alternate donation
collection methods, with an aim to get quality donations from broader locations and untapped
sources - for use with both corporate partners and also at community events.

Trojan’s Trek
Cost Analysis

Trojans trek will be recognised as the most effective peer support wilderness based
intervention which reconstructs the psychological health and well being of service and ex-

PROJECT 29
Variety – The Children’s Charity
Variety Bash - Charity Motoring Event (Queensland)
Methodology Planning for Event Participant Data Collection

The Variety Bash is an iconic charity motoring event that runs for ten days each year and sees
hundreds of old vehicles travelling through outback and regional parts of Australia and raises
millions of dollars for Variety – The Children’s Charity to help kids who are sick, disadvantaged
or have special needs. Last semester, CEP participants assessed the economic impact of the
event on the communities visited.
For this project, students are asked to provide a practical method to:
• entice participants and supporters to participate in the financial expenditure survey.
• ensure that participants continue to log their expenditure throughout the entire event/trip.

PROJECT 30
Variety – The Children’s Charity
Variety Bash - Charity Motoring Event (Queensland)
Event Data Collection Expenditure Tool

Students are asked to source a practical, cost negligable and easy to use tool that allows
participants and supporters to measure their day to day expenditure on the trip. (For example:
This could be using an e-tool or online survey accessible by smart phones, or a physical log
book (for those without smart phones), or both used together, etc.)
Consideration will need to be made regarding mobile accessibility and the age of some
participants, as well as ease of use, the ability to collate the data efficiently, etc.
The ultimate aim is that this tool is usable for the 2018 Variety Bash.

PROJECT 31
YMCA Social Impact
Not-For-Profit Real Estate Project

YMCA Social Impact is the charitable arm of the YMCA of Brisbane. We exist to empower
people in our community who are disadvantaged.
YMCA Social Impact would like to explore the feasibility of a not-for-profit real estate agency
operating in the South East Queensland area.
Working in a multidisciplinary team, students will join YMCA Impact and Innovation to lead a
project examining existing services, market trends, required infrastructure and prospective
customer needs. Should it be demonstrated that a real estate agency is feasible in the current
climate, all profits would be directed to YMCA's charitable services including Schools' Breakfast
Program, Siblings Reconnect and School-Based Mentoring.
