Morang district is one of the high population densities of the country and Biratnagar is capital

city of state government and it is lies in Morang district. Besides that Biratnagar-Ithari is a
very good industrial region. Currently, High growth of urban settlement and industrialization
in industrial corridor. Duhabi is a 132/33/11 kV substation that supply electricity to whole
Morang & Sunsari district. Outer part of Morang district is facing low voltage and frequent
tripping and outage. It is also high losses in 33kV transmission line to 33/11kV substations
due to long distance. Because of the long line length, the quality and reliability of the supply
is very poor and the line losses are also very considerable. So, outer area of Morang district
will be fed electricity by proposed Keraun 132/33kV substation. It is central part of Morang
District and it is located under Duhabi-Anarmani 132kV transmission line at Keraun,
Kanepothari-2, Morang. There are three existing 33/11kV substations i.e. Rangeli,
Biratchowk & Katahari will be fed by this sub-station and proposed 33/11 kV Substation i.e.
jhorahat, Letang, Ambari, Hatimuda and Karsiya can also be fed by this substation.

Nepal possesses tremendous hydropower potential, which is still under development.

Government of Nepal, Nepal Electricity Authority and Privet parties had studied several
basin-wise hydropower identification projects. Approximately 25,000 MW of hydropower
projects have been identified as economically feasible for project development, out of which
around 1129 MW hydropower projects have been developed till date.

Presently, the transmission system of Nepal has basically 132 kV trunk lines running mostly
in Terai region from Anarmani, far-eastern part of Nepal to Mahendranagar, far-western part
on Nepal. Numbers of North-South transmission/sub-transmission link lines at different
voltage level as 132, 66, and 33 kV were constructed to evacuate the generation powers as
well as to feed the required power different locations of the nation. Nepal's first-ever 400kV
Dhalkebar (Nepal)- Muzaffarpur (India) cross-border transmission link is completed in the
previous fiscal year. Currently this line has been charged at 220 kV voltage level and
importing upto 145 MW of power. In order to develop a strong east-west Transmission
Network the Hetauda-Dhalkebar-Inaruwa 400kV transmission line is under construction.
Another 220 kV double circuit transmission line from Khimti to Dhalkebar sub-stationhas also
been completed which is initially charged at 132 kV. The second circuit of this line is under
construction. Construction of this line specially aimed to evacuate the generated power from
Upper Tamakoshi Hydropower project developed by sister company of NEA.

To meet the growth in the power and energy demand, NEA planned to take large and
medium projects as Upper Tamakoshi Hydropower, Tanahu Hydropower, Kulekhani
Hydropower, Upper Trishuli 3A and 3B HEP, Rahuganga HEP, Upper Sanjen, Sanjen,
Rasuwagadi, Madhya Bhotekoshi hydroelectric power projects. The Government of Nepal
also committed to develop 10,000 MW in next 10 year with the partnership of public and
private sector. And at that time NEA is at the advance stage in creating additional cross
border links in cooperation with Indian Company which will facilitate the import power till the
completion of these projects and export then after.
