Remove Cashbox and Acceptor Head

Description

This procedures show how to remove the cashbox,

the Transfer Unit and the Acceptor Head from its
mounting frame. (Figurs shown for down stacking
version. Procedure for the up stacking versions is
similar).

Remove the Cashbox

1. Grasp the handle with your left hand and pull

JCM WBA-xx-Series
down the Cashbox release lever with your thumb.
2. Slide out the Cashbox straight without canting.
Do not force the Cashbox out.

Remove the Transfer Unit and the Acceptor Head

1. Pull down the Transfer Unit release lever and

slide out the hole Transfer Unit with Acceptor
Head attached.
2. Open the Acceptor Head by pulling the Acceptor
Head opening notches on both sides of the Ac-
ceptor head towards you.

3. Remove the bill entry frame (bezel). Pay atten-

tion not to damage the attached cable.
4. Close the Acceptor Head.
5. Pull down the Acceptor Head release lever and
slide out the Acceptor Head.

Clearing Jams

Description

This procedures discuss how to clear bill jams.

Procedure for Acceptor

1. Pull the Acceptor Head opening notches on both

sides of the Acceptor head towards you.
2. Open the acceptor head.

JCM WBA-xx-Series
3. Remove the jammed bill.

Procedure for Transfer unit

If jammed bill can't be removed through the above

method, open the transfer unit

1. Pull down the Transfer Unit release lever and

slide out the hole Transfer Unit with Acceptor
Head attached. (Only on some modells, to get
access to the Transfer Unit Opening Lever).
2. Open the top of the Transfer Unit by pulling on
the transfer unit opening lever.
3. Remove the jammed bill.

Procedure for Cashbox inlet

1. Check to see if a bill is jammed near the inlet of

the Cashbox.

Inspecting and Cleaning

When to Inspect and Clean

Inspecting and cleaning the unit are tasks you should

perform during routine preventive maintenance on
the WBA bill acceptors. We recommend that you do
this procedure at least once every six months.

Procedure to Inspect

• Access the bill path by opening the acceptor and

transport components.

JCM WBA-xx-Series
• Make a visual check to see if any debris or liquid
have collected in the bill path.
• Check the belts (also in the transfer and stacker
units) to see if they are frayed, slick or worn.
If so, replace them.
• Check the sensor lenses to see if they have be-
come dirty, clouded or scratched.
If so, replace scratched or clouded lenses.
• Inspect if lenses are set flush with the bill path.
If not, open and press lenses back into position.

Procedure to Clean

• If possible, use compessed air for blowing debris

from the bill path and the cashbox.
• Use a lint-free cloth and a mild liquid detergent
mixed with water, such as dish detergent, or just
water.
• Ensure that the cloth is not liquid-saturated.
• Wipe the bill path, lenses and rollers.
• Wipe the belts lightly as you rotate them by hand.
• After wiping, inspect lenses to ensure that none
have been moved out of position.
• Allow drying before closing the acceptor and
transport assembly.
• After cleaning we recommend calibration.

Note: Never use dry abrasive type cleaners, alcohol

or any kind of solvent for cleaning the acceptor. The-
se products can damage lenses and belts! The use
of cleaning cards is also not recommended.

Quick Calibration

Description

Calibration sets a starting reference point for all

the optical sensors within the unit. This task can
be done at the host unit or at your workbench.

When to Calibrate

• During preventive maintenance (min. once a year).

JCM WBA-xx-Series
• Whenever bill acceptance is degraded.
• After acceptor has been disassembled for repair.
• After a sensor board has been replaced.
• When upgrading, downloading software.

Note: When replacing sensors it is recommended

to carry out a complete calibration including mag head
calibration. Therefor special test equipment is needed.
Please contact Atronic Technical Service for further
information.

Tools needed

You can calibrate the WBA Series at the host ma-

chine or at your workbench.

If you calibrate at your workbench, you need:

insert this way
• Calibration Paper KS-039, (JCM part 075626).
• Power Unit PS15-006, (JCM part 057117).

If you calibrate at the host machine, you need:

• Calibration Paper KS-039, (JCM part 075626).

Note: Do not use any other calibration paper. Calibration Paper KS-039 for
WBA-Series (JCM Part 075626).

Quick Calibration (continued)

Procedure

1. Remove the Transfer Unit. Pull down the Transfer

Unit release lever and slide out the Transfer Unit.
2. Set DIP switches 8, 7, 6, 5 to "ON" (down)
position, all others to the "OFF" position.
3. Connect unit to power source.
Either host machine or external power supply.
4. Listen for activation of the transport motor. Wait
until motor stops (2 - 3 sec.).

JCM WBA-xx-Series
5. Insert the Calibration Paper KS-039 with the black
paper first into the acceptor head. The unit will
carry the paper forward and reverse several times.
When the unit returns the paper the process is
completed.
6. Wait a few moments until calibration data is stored
in memory.
7. Look at the indicator LED connected to the test DIP-Switch settings for Quick
harness. If the light blinks continuously at inter- Calibration of optical sensors.
vals of 1/10 second, without any pauses, the
procedure was successful.
8. If calibration was successful, turn power off and
disconnect the test harness (or remove from host).
9. Set all DIP switches to the "OFF" position and
reinstall the acceptor. Clear possible "Bill Accep-
tor Connection" error message with the Audit Key.

TEST PROCEDURES

Bill Receiving Test

Description

This procedure is used to test the ability to accept

bills and to stack using the cashbox. It is used for
troubleshooting.

Procedure

This procedure can be carried out at the workbench

with a external power supply or in the host machine.

JCM WBA-xx-Series
1. Disconnect unit from power.
(In machine: Slide out the hole Transfer Unit a bit
until external connector is disconnected).
2. Set DIP switch #8 to the "ON" position and all
others to the "OFF" position. This puts the unit in
Test Mode.
3. Apply power.
(In machine: Slide in the Transfer Unit to recon-
nect external connector).
4. Set DIP switches #1, 2, 3, 4 to "ON" position to
select the "Bill receiving with cashbox" Test Mode.
5. Move DIP switch #8 back to the "OFF" position.
This activates the test.
6. Insert a bill. The unit validates the bill and stacks
it into the cashbox. Make sure to have the cashbox
keys at hand to get the bills out of the cashbox!
DIP switch setting for "Bill
• If the bill is not rejected the procedure
receiving test".
was successful.
• If the bill is rejected, the two front LEDs in
the bill entry frame are blinking showing an
error code. See next pages for error codes.
7. Disconnect unit from power.
8. Set all DIP switches to the "OFF" position. The
acceptor is now ready for installation.
9. Reinstall the acceptor.
(In machine: Turn the Audit Key to remove the
error message on game screen, when reconnect-
ing to running machine).
