The Northeast Montana Fair kicked off arena will be put to good use again Saturday
Thursday and today with the Valley County 4-H with the RCAN Old Mil Ranch Rodeo. Entries
Horse Show, and these kids take their equine begin at 4:00. Following a quick rules meeting

Over the last two nights near Fort Peck, crews lead
by FWP nongame biologist Heather Harris set up four
25-ft tall x 35-ft long “bat nets” in order to catch some of
these insect-eating flying mammals.
The intention of the project was to look at species
diversity in the area. Over 50 bats were caught!
The most common species was the silver-haired
bat (Lasionycteris noctivagans) which made up about Show Times: Fri 7:30 pm, Sat 2 pm* & 7:30 pm, Sun 4 pm

only 13 seconds long) showing three other species , all in
the same genus, that were netted including (from left): a
little brown bat (Myotis lucifugus), northern long-eared
