FAREWELL SPEECH TO MY ALL TIME CLASS.

Fatma Mohammed, the class representative AKA Mama Samia Suluhu Hassan, Elias Makoha,
the deputy class representative, class members, friends and comrades, good afternoon.

I want to take this opportunity to thank the Almighty God for making us to see another day, full of
love and good health cause many of our colleagues in respective colleges and universities were
not able to finish their studies but for us it has taken God's will, dedication, discipline, patience,
perseverance, unity and not forgetting that our parents worked day and night to pay school fees
on time to conclude our four years stay here at the Kenya Institute of Mass Communication and
to that I want to congratulate each one of us here at today for a job well done.

First I want to thank God for enabling me to finish up my studies at this great institution, to thank
my father and mother who made every effort to pay my school fees so as not to miss any
classes, to thank my family at large who believed in me to become one of the greatest
journalists in the world, to thank my lecturers especially Madam Charity who through her friend
made sure that I joined this institution when I had applied for a course in Journalism in 2017, to
my friends back home who shared their advice to work hard in school and help them in their
endeavors and finally to thank my classmates who later became my friends like Collins Omondi,
Faith Muia AKA Fash, Diana Murua, Zawadi Njoroge, Wilson Kahindi, Caroline Mghoi, Fatma
Mohammed, Mohammed Ali, even I got a chance to meet our colleague from neighbouring
country Tanzania Sameera Kibacha, Aida Bosibori, Collins Ogutu, Rita Wambui Moraa, Evdyne
Wanja etc. Also met with other friends like Avia Mutwiri, Elias Makoha AKA Dj Blankspace,
Caroline Mueni, Marlina Msafiri, Maureen Nyokabi, Reagan Kibaba, Cecelia Mshai, Lilian
Kamau, Phillip Ngove, Maureen Mutai and Bonventure Sifuna etc and not to forget our former
colleagues like Caroline Arara whom we miss her ribcracking jokes, Sharon Sissy whom I
consider as my amigo, kind, loving, caring, responsible and a person who likes bugging me alot
even when I am not in a good mood and to those who we miss like Hidel, Immaculate, Kemboi,
Richard,Kipambi etc.

As I entered this institution in 2017 there were many things that I had to learn in order to achieve
success and greatness in this life. My first task was to represent my family and friends just like
an ambassador who is appointed by a president to represent a country in the embassy be it in
the USA, UK to ensure strong ties with that country, with this I was able to achieve it by making
new friends from different ethnic, religious and social backgrounds and learnt their cultures, I
really appreciate everyone here that we have walked in this journey together and I say asanteni
sana.

My second task while here at KIMC was to be part and parcel of what happened in class or
outside. Just like God created the universe with a purpose and we human beings to be in
charge of every creation by making sure that we keep our environment clean, information and
communication played an important role in ensuring that we attended classes on time,
assignments assigned to us by the various lecturers we did it on time through the class
representative and if one of us had a problem with it, we were able to help him or her as a
friend, brother or sister without minding ethnic, social or religious affiliations which embraced our
unity up to date.

Even I too helped my classmates in sharing information if there were any

assignments, notes, classes through calls or Whats App which I gave feedback to the class
representative and some of us asked me what time did I go to bed due to the many
assignments that we had but I never minded because I didn't want my fellow friends to wake up
the following day without finishing up their assignments just like the late President John Joseph
Magufuli said that I have sacrificed my life for the poor Tanzanians, I too sacrificed so much for
my classmates even became sick because of sleeping late at night at 1 am or 2 am and by the
grace of God I am well and strong, using my bundles, walking everyday to school to get
information and I don't take it for granted because all of you here are like my brothers and
sisters.

My fellow colleagues, last year when tragedy struck in our family as my late cousin went to be
with the Lord, I was really saddened and depressed by the news of her demise cause she was
my role model, mentor and my close friend ever.

Moreover our class since 2017 up to date has been the best by embracing values of unity,
discipline, patience, humility, endurance, kindness, love, respect and determination. Also by
debating on topical issues like relationships, politics in class whether agreeing or disagreeing
with one another but we did it maturely without violence and discord and our lecturers like Mr
Ondiegi, Madam Lydia, Madam Charity, Mr Komen, Mr Kitua, Dr Guyo, Madam Mwania, Mr
Oguta, Madam Sarah, Madam Nyamwamu, Mr Njeru and to mention a few who have been
grateful for participating in every class activities be it projects, assignments and group
discussions and become a shining star over other classes.

Even when we chose our class representatives and making history by having a female class
representative and a male deputy class representative from Caroline Mghoi and Mohammed Ali,
Fatma Mohammed and Elias Makoha respectively without focusing on religion, tribal or social
affiliations as this has made us to one of the greatest class in our time. Truly I can say from the
bottom of my heart is that our class is like Sameera's country Tanzania and being led by our
able class representative Fatma Mohammed whom I referred to as Mama Samia Suluhu
Hassan the 6th President of the United Republic of Tanzania because we live as one people
and one class.
Ladies and gentlemen, I would have wished to write everything about our class but my farewell
speech is a reflection of what our class is as a student and friend to all of you. As we prepare to
graduate from KIMC on October and start a new life in the coming years, I want to wish
everyone a happy, prosperous and successful life.

And let us continue to be there for one another as we depart from this great institution, even as
you celebrate your successful graduation with your friends and family make sure you exercise
safety and caution during the Covid-19 pandemic.

May God bless our class, May God bless our institution, May God bless our lecturers, May God
bless our country Kenya and I wish you all in your endeavors.
