Purpose: Students will use a ruler to assist them in drawing a shape monster

Activity: - Measurement Video

Activity:
- Students will use a ruler to help them draw a measurement monster.
They will be encouraged to use shapes with straight lines (e.g.,
rectangles, squares, etc.)
- Once students have completed their drawing, they will use their ruler
to measure each side of each shape on their measurement monster.
They will record the measurement in centimeters beside each side.

Consolidation: Gallery Walk


- All students will display their finished product on their table.
- Students will circulate around the classroom to check out their peer’s
work.

Assessment Students will be assessed on their finished product using a checklist.


Methods:
The checklist will include the following:
 Student was able to design and create a measurement monster.
 Student was able to use a ruler to draw their measurement monster.
 Student was able to use a ruler to measure their monster.
 Student was able to record the correct measurements for their
measurement monster.
