In support for the adoption of DepEd Service Marks and Visual Identity Manual and its
Manual of Style, Ramon National High School successfully conducted a virtual session to
cascade the content of the said memorandum to its faculty and staff last June 9, 2021 at 2 :30 in
the afternoon.
The purpose of the virtual session is to actively take part in promoting the use of the
Department’s name, seal and logo for the production of official forms, publications and
advocacy materials in communication together with the latest language style, format and usage
in instituting and conveying a unified DepEd identity to its partners and stakeholders.
Mrs. Marilyn V. Ramos, Head Teacher III of the Science Department was the resource
speaker of the said session. She commenced her talk by presenting the legal basis of the
guidelines in using the DepEd Service Marks and Visual Identity Manual. The first one to be
tackled was the legal name of DepEd which is Department of Education where the primary
typeface is Old English Text MT. The DepEd’s name shall appear in this style as presented –
Department of Education (DepEd) but when it is used again in the same letter, it shall appear in
the abbreviated style DepEd. It was also shared that DepEd offices may opt to use Trajan Pro
as an alternative typeface. Ma’am Marilyn also shared the usage of the seal together with its
elements. Symbolism of the seal’s elements as well as its color specifications and color
variations took an important part in the sharing. As to the seal’s format, it was categorized into
two types, the vertical and horizontal format in English and Filipino versions. Spacing
requirement and the usage of the seal particularly the things to be avoided like changing color
schemes and crowding the seal with images or backgrounds were discussed.
It was also shared in the session the usage of the DepEd logo which includes the
abbreviated name “DepED” where “ED” is capitalized. The color variations, size specifications
and spacing requirement were also presented. Both the DepEd seal and logo can be
occasionally rendered in grayscale version. The part two of the session revolved on
applications of the DepEd logo in vehicles. It was said that donated vehicles may use the
DepEd logo or the logo or seal of the donating entity. The DepEd logo sticker with white
background can be place depending on the ease of use. As to roof markings, the logo and the
identification number of the school are painted on the roof of the main building or the tallest
building in the school, whichever is appropriate. Exceptions for the wall-markings which
include the DepEd name, seal, logo, Vision, Mission, and Core Values, Portraits and Sayings
