Subject: Garbage segregation and collection proposal

Dear Sirs and Ma’ams,

I am writing this letter to propose a strategy for our barangay in managing our wastes. It has always
been a problem in our barangay despite all the rules and fines regarding this matter. I am only a
concerned citizen of your barangay and I observed that some constituents are still not segregating their
wastes. According to some constituents, they are unable to segregate their wastes completely because
of the schedule of garbage collection and other factors. This problem must be addressed properly
because waste segregation is important not only to reduce the impact it has on the environment; it is
also an economically beneficial prospect because it makes recycling much easier.

I propose that we provide a small garbage collection and segregation facility where the constituents of
our barangay will put their wastes and the facility will take care of the segregation. In this way, we can
make sure that all of the wastes coming from our barangay is segregated and it will also solve the
problem of some constituents regarding the schedule of collection. Penalties due to not segregating will
be eliminated. Instead, the cost of having the facility will be equally divided among all the constituents.
Also, people will not have to go out all at the same time when the garbage collectors arrive. It will be
beneficial to the people especially in this time of pandemic where we observe social distancing.
