ONLINE PABASA AS A SCHOOL BEST PRACTICE

Due to the pandemic the system of education in the new normal was quite different. Many

say that they are tired of this situation especially the learners hence Don Felix de Leon Memorial

School including Kindergarten, Grade 1, Grade 3 and Grade 5 conducted an Online Pabasa for a

month with the help and assist by their parents. The said Online Pabasa aims to help the

struggling readers to progress in reading and manifest improvements of outcomes. This also

served as a school best practice that can be adopted and bench marked by other schools as well.

The reading session lasted for a month with the use of different teacher-made reading materials

with the assistance of their parents. The systematic approach was used in the said pabasa. The

adviser started the sessions by reading letters followed by the syllables and soon words and phrases

until they can read even a short story with guided questions.

As a result, the reading skills of the pupils was improved based on the conducted Reading

test by the adviser.
