Explain Cough Syrup Medication

Nurse : Good morning Mrs. Lia

Patient : Good morning nurse

Nurse : I'll give you a cough syrup

Patient : What is the use of this cough medicine, nurse?

Nurse : This cough syrup is used to relieve coughs due to colds, vomiting, stomach
aches and helps to relieve breathing.

Patient : What is the dose of this cough syrup?

Nurse : For adults please drink 1-2 teaspoons, and for children 2-6 years ½
teaspoons. 6-12 yrs. ½ to 1 teaspoon. It may be repeated 4 hours, if necessary, but no more
than 4 times in 24 hours. Take this medication after meals

Patient : Is there any caution on this cough syrup?

Nurse : Continue treatment for 72 hours. This preparation may cause drowsiness.
Do not drive or operate machinery while taking this medication.
